    Hi,

So I've upgraded my 740qm to a 920xm and when I want to boot into windows 7, it keeps hanging on the windows starting splash screen (also when i want to reinstall windows 7 btw.

That being said, I noticed that the m17x r2 only recognizes one dimm card; the one *closest to the mainboard lets say*. I find this weird since in the whole cpu upgrade procedure I have never come anywhere near the memory dimm slots.

If I only put a stick in the *broken* dimm slot and leave the other dimm slot unused, i get the keyboard Ram issue led-flashcode.

However if i put my 2 cards into both slots, it boots but only the ram in the dimmslot closest to the mainboard, is showing up.

As said before, i can operate in safe mode for hours and it will never freeze or whatever.

    SO IN SHORT:

*One Dimm slot is not recognizing ramsticks, while the other one is doing this without any noticeable problem
*Windows 7 install locking up at *windows starting splash screen*
*Windows xp install gives BSOD(recent hardware change-msg) right after *windows loading screen
*Safe mode is working but the windows copy is fresh(did that right before i upgraded the cpu) so can not restore to previous date.
    *windows repair not working

At this moment im running the Windows memory diagnostics tool, without any faults so far.

So my guess is that the dimm slot is preventing windows 7 to load normally and may there be a cable or something i didnt reattach that has anything to do with a dimm slot not being recognized?

Also: how to determine if the second dimmslot isn't working properly, or both dimm cards? without putting other dimm cards in it?

    specs:

    i7 920xm
    1x4gb ram
    1x2gb ram
    2x 5870
    bios A10 mod. default settings
