Is there any chance of being able to browse the web on your laptop and at the same time watch a movie via HDMI out on my TV?

Seems like there should be a way and just wondered if anyone has done this

    Thanks

Yes, I used to do that before I got my server. It is very simple all you need to do is buy an HDMI cable and connect the television as secondary display. Or you can get the HD transmitter that can be internal or external for the laptop. If you need anymore details let me know. Since I really can't tell your situation based on your details.

I can stream movies no problem, do that all the time.
Question is if I can watch a movie on the TV while watching a different picture on my actual laptop?

Yes, if you have windows 7, press windows key +p(or specific fn combo on your machine) and select extend. Then you can drag windows across.

Also should be configurable if you right click desktop and select display setting. You can drag the secondary monitor to left/right position as you wish.

Follow baiii's steps to extend the display. That will allow you to view both at the same time.

Absolutely. Windows button + P just like Baiii said. One thing I noticed with some HDTVs, you may need to change the scaling ratio in Catalyst Control Center so the picture your R3 sends out will take up the entire screen on your HDTV, not just a small section in the middle. Its under My Digital Flat Panel Displays->Scaling Options.
