Yes, same for me
-
Hmm that is a bit pathetic, Dell needs to fix this. What the hell is the point of me moving my arm near the screen and hitting a button when iTunes is open when I can easily move my mouse.
-
I have the same issue but then again had it on my Toshiba laptop with touchpad media buttons, seems like an iTunes on Windows issue more than a Dell issue.
The might be a patch or something like that on the web but didnt bother too much to search for it. -
it is designed to work this way....how else is the mediapad suposed to know what program to control....what if you had windows media and itunes open at the same time? its not gonna change
-
Why would you have both open at the same time? Then it becomes a user issue.
It should have a config panel where you choose which one to control at a time. There is a simple and effective fix that can be implemented to increase the functionality of those media buttons. There is ABSOLUTELY 0 point of having it only work when the program is the CURRENT window. -

For instance Media Bar controls do work when windows media player or window media center are minimized...
-
ok but the media bar also controls the volume of the system as well as the volume of the program...my point is, it has always worked this way on every model and every vendor of laptop... its not going to change....so you can complain, which is what many use this forum for, or you can just accept it.
-
I realize this but not many use Windows Media Player from what I can tell.
-
Simple answer. Don't use iTunes. This is the kind of BS that makes Apple suck. I recommend Foobar 2000 or just use Window's media player.
Can't control iTunes with media panel unless iTunes is the current window
