I just got my m17x r2 ati crossfirex hd 5850.
whenever I try to install the new driver for hd58XX 10.10 or 10.11, in the middle of the installation, my screen resulution goes 800 x 600 and installation continues and eventually completes. It says its completed successfully but when i check it out, it actually removed the driver. I tried to install other version on that but it now says it failed to load something blah blah...
I can't even reboot it because it fails to start windows I have to go into safe mode to restore the system to a back date.
I really don't get what the hell is wrong with my system..
I tried both the 10.10 at ATI's website and the driver in Dell's official site.
None of them works and same results.
So I'm just sticking with the default version ouf of the factory.
Please help me out here anyone..
p.s
by the way, disregard the crossfirex disabled message in the picture, that was taken while in stealth mode.

You need the latest VBIOS for HD5870 to install the drivers from AMD without setting WORKAROUNDINSTALL=TRUE in config file.
Read the following carefully:

Important is, you completly remove the old DELL driver if you have 8.692! You don't want any leftovers from it, at anytime! -
hey there mate.
i had exactly the same problem when i got my M17xr2 1 month ago.
i thought it was system fault (lol at me) ;p and yeah i worried like u do now.
so the only way to work is to install the new vbios as Grim said.
in my case was the latest Alienware driver 8.763 and not the 10.10 but i was
getting the same message.
you dont have to worry about the flashing it takes less than 5 seconds to complete.(when i tried to install the vbios to a memory stick greater than 2 giga i was getting an error. so prefer to get a 2 giga memory stick).
i know all these stuff sounds weird to you but follow the 2 links grim posted and you will be just fine.
So good luck
Can't upgrade my graphic driver...
