    Hey guys

I'm very sad. I tried to do the new 8.763 driver update over the weekend. I installed it first and had it working, to the best of my knowledge. I then went to install the flash, and it told me

    Error
This VBIOS update is intended only for the following video card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870
The update cannot be performed on this system.

Just after this, I noticed the new drivers would not let my system sleep, and shutdowns were no longer clean, I had to power cycle after waiting a few minutes.

This morning, I got BSOD's on startup, so I thought I would revert the driver to 10.3. I removed the ATI bundle via the ATI installer, and tried to run VGA. It gives generic "FAILS" messages in the log and will not install.

Now, I get an error 10 on one VGA card when not in safe mode.

No cleaning I can do with driver sweeper, ccleaner, etc. seems to help here. I have deleted the drivers in control panel (starting with the master, then the "failed one") but a reboot will not install, the second VGA driver. Any thoughts? A Win reinstall is not an option at this time, too much stuff on here.

Before I write off my entire day with Dell, can anyone help? Thank you!

    Ah buggers to hear chiefs.

I guess you could try going back into device manager and then just deleting both the GPUs. Restart and then try reinstalling the dell driver or another older version. Then try updating to the newer one again and then try doing the vbios again.

    Cheers.

Thanks Reborn for replying, but *whew* OK, I'm now fully installed, new drivers and flash. Wow, talk about three hours of panic.

Here's what I did in case anyone happens along with this same issue.

What fixed the error code 10, when nothing else would, was installing the drivers manually via device manager "update driver" on the standards. The ATI installer would not work at all, it kept failing with a generic fail code.

Once this was done, I rebooted to find both of my vid cards showing up properly as HD 5870's. Then, I could run the latest vbios and it let me flash. So, now it appears all is working, and sleep is working (for me and the computer!)

    What a royal PITA!
