I use an external bluetooth mouse occasionally and if my computer goes to standby, regardless of whether or no im using the external mouse, when the computer is turned back on, the keyboard and touch pad are completely unresponsive and I must either get the computer to recognize mu face or go fine my bluetooth mouse so I can click my name, the the keyboard will let me type the password. What gives here?

When I first turn the computer on everything works normally. If I log out, and not switch users, everything works normally.

In the touchpad driver I have it set to NOT disable when using an external mouse....

The closest problem I have had that is comparable to this is that if I use an external mouse, until the next computer restart if I unplug it and want to use the touchpad its impossible to reactivate the touchpad.

Im sure i have experienced that but making sure the touchpad wasnt disabled seemed to do it for me.....but you have done that right?

The only other thing that i can think of is that if you recently updated your BIOS and if you havent updated the synaptics touchpad driver also at the same time, this can cause issues.....i seem to recall that one bios release stated that the touchpad driver should be done too.....

If you havent, i would update to the latest bios and ensure that the touchpad driver is the latest one too - both found on Dell downloads and drivers website.
