Ok, so I have just tried to reinstall windows 7 on my HDD's.
I have 2x 128gb gskill falcon.
Each drive individually installs and boots fine.
Using a USB thumb drive, I tried installing windows 7 (bios is in raid0 and intel controller setup up for raid0).
It tells me "windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computer's hardware may not support booting... etc"
I have looked around for common issues, tried the dummy USB trick - is there a controller I need to load during bootup or something? I assumed it was just an ich10r chip?
Thanks

Take a look at this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/422486-how-configure-raid-1-0-m17x-didnt-come.html It's for the M17x-R1 with the nVidia chipset but some of the steps may help.

Yah thats for an R1, Im on an R2.
Different raid controller, thus different issue.

BTW did you press F10 upon boot to get into the RAID menu?

Yeah I have done all that. I have setup intel raid about a million times over the years.
I have a feeling it has something to do with the disabling the card reader, but I dont know a way to disable it.

Ok, this needs to be added to the wiki:
When installing a raid0 setup, you are unable to use a USB thumb drive to install Windows 7.
Windows 7 must be installed from a DVD.
/endwiki
Seems to work fine now.

The wiki is open to anyone to edit. If you feel it needs to be an entry then feel free to add it.
