Hi
As above every time i try to update the standard Dell latest driver it doesnt work .
Ive tried mulitple times using driver sweeper then ccleaner to remove all Ati stuff .
I then try to install 11.9 and it just doesnt work ... its like there is no driver installed at all because i cant put the screen resolution back to 1900x1200 and desktop icons are massive and in Device Manager the secondary card says its not working properly .
However if i put the Dell driver back on ( via Dell support using service tag ) all returns to normal and everything works again![]()

So .... Dell driver 8.763.0.0 everything works fine ... try installing 11.9 and nothing works untill i put the Dell ones back on ..... HELP![]()

You have to install 11.9 OVER the dell drivers. Don't uninstall the dell stuff. Leave it there. Then install 11.9.

Ok I've installed 11.9 over the Dell driver but device manager still says driver version is Driver Packaging Version 8.763-100810a-104118C-Dell
And 3D Mark 06 score has gone down 150 point or so .
Is this correct ? -
You don't need the dell drivers for the ATI drivers to work. The problem is with AMD's download scheme and driver package. Don't download the direct driver package; instead download their download utility and use it to download the driver package itself. This should work, 99.9% sure. Verify driver versions afterward.

Edit: updated my 11.8 to 11.9 with link above just fine. Didn't have to uninstall anything or reboot. Working good so far. -

Yeah the ATI drivers can be a bit hit or miss. Some folks uninstall everything, some simply upgrade their existing drivers. I'm not sure why it seems to be so difficult to upgrade the graphics drivers, but it can be a real adventure sometimes.
Cant get ATI 11.9 to work on XF4870's
