i guess, after all the complaining about the problematic installs, AMDATI finally fixed up the install

the way i did this was to use the inbuilt software updater from CCC (while running in enduro mode) (? 14.7 methinks) and it downloaded and proceeded to install that threw up an error, but had managed to install most options from the get go (save critical components not being updated)

i have then downloaded a separate driver from the site and installed it on top of the existing (somewhat updated) driverset and let it install.... all components updated and nary a fault...

my apologies and thanks to AMD :)

Did they fix the switchable fixed mode? It has been absent since 14.6, which is a major issue for me as I like to keep the m18x type switching instead of dynamic switching.

Guys I'm stuck on the integrated Intel GPU, when I press configure switchable graphics I get the Advanced Display Settings instead of the GPU switching screen and I have no idea how else to switch to the dedicated GPU. Pressing FN + F7 doesn't help either.

    Any ideas?

Switch works just fine on my Alienware 18 but I have to mention that I formatted my laptop when I saw this new driver didn't do an upgrade or uninstall / reinstall, using all official Alienware 18 Drivers from Dell's site for Windows 7 except for the VGA using AMD's latest driver

gave me better scores, check them out below, official Alienware Driver first, then the new driver benchmarks next

The driver for laptop is amd-catalyst-14-9-win7-win8.1-64bit-dd-ccc-whql.exe, similar to the driver for desktop. Do graphic cards on both desktop and laptop use the same driver?
