    Hey guys,

I cant find any specific information on this.

basically, whenever i try to install / uninstall ANYTHING ATI related (be it avivo, ccc, driver, crossfire application profiles) the installer always crashes!!

I've scanned for malware, virus's etc, and its all clear.

all other installers I have tried, worked without any problems

but anything ATI does not :(

"the ati install suite has stopped responding"

If anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated

    Hello,

I had this error a while back and it was caused by another program (SQL Management Studio), basically the service pack for this never installed correctly and was conflicting with the install manager in some way. I had to deinstall SQL Management Studio, reinstall my ATI drivers and then reinstall SQL (which installed correctly second time round). Maybe you should check all recently added programs are installed correctly? :)

currently running 10.4, i installed 10.6 and 10.7 without any problems, but removed them because the performance was really bad in nfs shift (which i was trying to play at the time)

I'm running the dual 4870's, no vbios change (i didnt know there were any vbios's for the 4870s anyway) its nothing to do with the drivers themselves though, its the installer that is playing up. its never happened before, but its been at least 2 months since ive tried messing with video related stuff. but i cannot install / uninstall etc

i've not driver sweepered though, because i'm worried i'll not be able to run the installer once ive blitzed the existing drivers, meaning i have to reinstall windows (which is an absolute nightmare for me as my laptop actually resides in a music studio and contains many samples / tracks that refer to samples in specific places, that is near on impossible to recreate after a reinstall)

seems like a stupid problem though...damned MSI installer not working...but only for ATI ?!?!?

There is no VBIOS update for the 4870s so don't give that a second thought. Have you tried to run the 8.763 (current) Dell installer? If not, I suggest you give that a go (just run it and see if that resolves your issue, you can always drill down further with driver sweeper, etc. if still having issues) -
