I'm pretty sure many can relate to being the 12 year old kid who would look at Alienware with such gleam in there eyes.. Well finally getting mine!! Although the style has changed from he blue, red, covers with the black fins.. To a more traditional change which to be honest I don't mind.. I don't really want to be the guy with the 3k laptop in a room full of medical students.

    Stuff I'm planning on buying
Laptop cooler Figure I'd go with the u3
    Games.. Duh!!
Carrying case .. ( what ever happened to the aluminum/black briefcase they used to have in the Alienware shop??? I want one and can't find one on eBay...)

    Any chimes on carrying cases??

I got the alien armor case :) Its pretty cool, but you cant fit the 17 plus anything else in it. I can fit my m14x, charger, speakers, mouse and mouse pad in it though.
If you keep checking, they do sometimes come up on ebay... I bid on like 20 of them before I was able to get one for a price I wanted... mine cost me $27.00

Yeah, If you removed all the pockets from the top lid there is a chance you can fit the charger in there too. I have yet to pull all that out of mine since mine is mint. But, it is technically thick enough to fit the charger and mouse if you remove those pockets.

While I love mine, I dont use it ever. Its more of a collectable item for me like my alienware boombox and mp3 player.

Yes, you should be able to. But you have to remove the pockets and organizers from the top lid.

I will put my aw17 into the case this weekend and take some pictures for you. Since the pictures I posted are of a m17x4 in the case.

Along with some pictures of the charger and my g502 mouse in there.

I have an Orion 17 backpack and a vindicator briefcase (the new soft sided one). They are both pretty good, well made and serve me well. There is plenty of room for the laptop and all the peripherals I carry around with me which include my Cooling Pad, Mouse, Power Adapter, Xbox controller , misc cords, PSP and G930 headset.

I use the briefcase more on a daily basis but if I know I have to walk very far or if I had to travel I would probably opt for backpack as it is easier to throw it on over both shoulders and still carry other stuff.

Build quality on both is actually really good IMO, I have had no complaints from them.

I did a review on the briefcase if your interested

Great review!!! Well I'd only be taking it to school where I drive to.. I may just get the backpack so I can fit the comp, the mouse, u3 cooler (if fits ), DS, PSP, and my iPad along with my books.. I may just have to carry two bags

Does the briefcase part where the logo is it seems to be kinda of a plastic shell?? Or is that just how I look at it?

The U3 will NOT fit in the backpack as it is pretty big, wider even then the Alienware itself. The only bag I know of that will fit the U3 is an Everki Titan :D my buddy has one so I have tested it in one of those. As for the briefcase, it isn't a hard plastic , it is more of a synthetic mesh that is shaped into a hard plastic looking effect. It offers a solid and more professional look to it. I prefer the Messenger bag myself but this was all they had in stock at the time, maybe down the road I will look into the other one if it is on sale.

Meh I don't like that Titan.. Plus way to pricey I think I may just go with what you got.. Seems to do what I need for school

Change of topic so stuff I want to buy while laptop is underway

    Games :)))
Laptop cooler prolly cooler master u3
    Mouse
Headphones possibly.... Maybe Bose? Reccomendations ?!

For mice anyone Have any reccomendations
I would prefer a wireless mouse, not very picky my brother used he 20$ Microsoft mouse and worked fine for me.. Was looking at the Logitech g502 proteus core decent price 80$... The madcatz rat 9 looked impressive hahaha but 160$ too much, steel series rival was good to but same price range..

I have a Logitech G602 Wireless mouse and I love it! It is comfortable to me and tracks very well. As for a headset I use the Logitech G930 headset and again I find them quite a good deal , except when there are multiple 2.4GhZ signals that could interfere with it. I run into the interference at work but in a data center you have lots of stray wireless signals and I have two other people in the room using the same headset. I find they are quite comfortable and fit my head nicely.

Congrats! You're going to love your Alienware. I have the Vindicator backpack and it works for me. Also, you can take out the middle section of it, I believe, to make more room...but I'm not sure this would be enough to fit everything you'd want. Just to give you an idea of how much stuff I have in mine, I have my A17, the A/C adapter to the A17, a Macbook Pro 13 inch, non-retina, TONS of cables stuffed into the cable management back, my headset, pens, a notebook, and few other things.

I don't have a wireless mouse but this is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ATHFLZS/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For a cheaper mouse it's awesome! A friend has this wireless mouse: http://www.amazon.com/E-3lue-E-Blue...8&qid=1401425735&sr=1-1&keywords=gaming+mouse

He likes it and the feel is not bad!

I'm still using the Asus ROG bagpack I got with my Asus G73JH.. Fits the Alienware perfectly along with a few files + 1 book :)
