How often shood I change the thermal paste... I put it kike 6 monts ago... Now i can see a grow of 5 degrees and the max core temp 81 and the low core 70... This is a big diffrence they all work in the same speed... The gpu is like 60-61degrees room temp 29 :) my wife likes it warm. It"s this ok? I usualy didnt go above 70 and under 60 at gpu..during 12-14hours of cs go ;) the paste is CLU

Probably good to do it now but also check if you fans are actually spinning and if they're not then set them to auto spin using that should help lower the temps. I had my gpu idle in the 40s without constant airflow but now it's in the 30s with constant airflow. Use hwinfo64 to monitor and control the fans.

I am cleaning the exterior laptop and the room 2 times/week and the inside if the laptop 1/month also take out fans... I try to set the fans speed using the hwinfo but they start spining the go off and they start spining ...i let them stock.

Go into the settings for hwinfo and I think it is under the safety tab look for a check box called EC support and uncheck it. If you set up a custom fan table with this option checked it will cause the fans to go nuts and your temps to go up to where they'll start to throttle. So you need to disable EC support before editing your fan tables.

I had done that from mr fox posts... But I want to know how to make the fan profile and how to use xtu profile for ours procesors and how did u oc your gpu to thouse speeds and made them stable and cooler

CPU - stock speeds so no OC profile

    GPU
like on desktop GPUs, mobile GPUs aren't created equal - so my 780m won't be the same as your 780m. so take my settings as a guide though there's a correlation between overclocking ability and your GPUs ASIC quality. you can check your GPUs ASIC quality in GPU-Z.

my settings for my 780M is:

    Core: 1019MHz (actual: 1006MHz)
    Memory: 6000MHz / 6GHz
    Core Voltage: 1.062v

My GPU's ASIC quality is 70%, if it was any higher i believe it would require less volts to overclock.

    FANS
Before setting your fan tables make sure the following setting is unchecked. if left checked it will cause your fans to go nuts and your temps to go up to where they start to throttle down. Make sure you also allow HWiNFO64 to read the COMPAL EC (or DELL EC) sensor.

Then go into sensors, and at the bottom you should see a small fan button. Click on it.

    CPU FANS
Both the CPU and GPU fans have 3 states - 0, low, and high. this is a problem as it doesn't allow us to find the balance between low temps and fan noise. Controlling your fans in HWiNFO64 is the only way to do it until Alienware get off their butts and open up fan control.

Below is my CPU fan table.

    GPU FANS

Below is my GPU fan table:

Both the CPU and GPU fans will whirr enough to make listening to speakers hard though that's why one has headphones. My CPU fan will spin up more than the GPU fan.

    3DMARK 11
My GPU temps with the fans on blarring their little fins off managed to never reach 80 deg C, the highest was 77 deg C. without the fans blowing it would reach the 80s real easy.

I OC'd with EVGA precision X (v4.2.1 cos their latest versions aren't great IMO) because, unlike MSI AfterBurner, it allows for voltage control so you can overvolt or undervolt. you test those settings with 3DMark 11 and if 3DMark crashes it means it wasn't stable.

the trick is getting constant airflow even when the gpu is not in load, though it's a combination of...

constant airflow from the GPU and CPU fans.
    decent thermal paste.
    a decent cooling pad.

i am still awaiting my replacement GPU fan to see if the higher CFM will mean i don't need to run it at max speed.

I will check my gpu asic, i think your room temp is better then mine but with thouse profile your fans will spin at max almoust all the time ..they are set at max speed after 35-45 degrees.
I will want to repaste first and see if something change.
The gpu is overvolt by 0,062mv?

my temps are post-repaste though pre-repaste was seeing similar idle and load temps: the only common factor missing was the lack of constant airflow and that made all the difference. so try whatever you can to get your temps down and that would include repasting, messing with the fan control....do whatever it takes! :D

yes, my GPU is overvolted by 0.062v or 62mv, not 0.062mv :p

when it comes to GPU chips, as I have learned when OC'ing desktop GPUs, is that it's a lottery. when they manufacture the chips it on a round wafer and from what i have been told and have read is that the higher your ASIC quality is the more closer to the centre (or center for the yanks...sheesh! LOL) your chip was on the wafer at the time of manufacture.

I think the ASIC matters only when you use SLI.

Do you have the link to the download of EVGA precision X v4.2.1 without garbage? I use MSI Afterburner nowadays. :D

    EVGA Precision X 4.2.1 Download

you'll need to update RTSS anyway.

    Thanks !!
The RTSS I have installed is version 6.2.0

Edit: This link have I tried before. When trying primary and secondary download link in guru3d, I come over to MSI afterburner download.

    Thanks a lot
Thought I had EVGA precision X v4.2.1 lying, but I have well mess it away.
What are the problems with the newer versions of EVGA precision X?
Is it not better and use Nvidiainspector ?

I find the precision x UI much easier... Especially if you have the alienware skin.

The settings in the new versions are displayed below your clock controls and not in a pop up window so navigating through the settings I find a bit tedious. For some reason the fan curve editor is available but does nothing, which I thought would help but it has no effect.

You can use nvidiainspector if one is more proficient though it doesn't have an option to load on boot, though it is great if you want to create shortcuts and attach them to your macro keys.

So I pick precision x because:
    1) easier interface.
    2) voltage control.
    3) loads on system boot.
    4) display system statistics.

Im not an overcloker guy but I tried installing HWinfo64. I did what you said step by step and I have questions...
FIrst I disable the EC Support and then go to sensors and i got this:
    2014-12-12_1-38-52.png
Why is my the DELL EC has no values? same with the CPU (which is two BTW- i dont know why) and my GPU has no values either.

    Then thru the fans:
    2014-12-12_1-43-51.png 2014-12-12_1-47-19.png
I have 3 CPU options to choose from? What gives!?

I choose the first one and I dont have an option to the tempreture source...

    Sorry for the late reply!

it probably means you've told HWinfo64 to go ahead and disable/ignore the EC sensor.

it's the 3rd CPU Option, the one below CPU : DTS.

    Pick the third CPU option.
