Hi Guys,
having sorted adding a second HDD, I now wish to remove the original 139Gb Hdd that came with the M17x-R2 and replace it with the 500Gb one, however, i note that the 139 has several partitions on it. 1) an OEM partition and 2) A Recovery Partition 3 is a "Normal partition
So the question is how do I place these partitions onto the New HDD
thanks for the help

Programs like Acronis True Image should be able to image the entire drive, partitions and all to a new drive no problem provided the new drive has sufficient space which yours will.
There are likely free options out there also that will do that that escape me at the moment. I'm sure someone will chime in here with a good suggestion. -
Seagate and Western Digital both have their own branded versions of Acronis TrueImage available for download from their website. They've named the software something else, but it's basically still just TrueImage. As long as the appropriate manufacturer's drive is physically present in the system, even if it's a laptop drive, I think you'll be permitted to use the software.
Even if you have something besides a Seagate or WD drive, there should still be something similar available in the manufacturer's download center or on support site. -
Many thanks to you both, as the new drive is a Seagate, I have downloaded from them. this is the first time I have used any computer with a manufacturers image system in it so I have a steep learning curve in front of me. I have built quite a few desktops though. To Explain, I won this M17x-R2 but was never given the chance to upgrade it and it came with the absolute minimum specification
