So with this replacement, Dell sent the wrong RAM as they promised (sent it with 6gb, promised 8gb) so they are sending the new ram. The question is, i've never installed RAM before and would just like to know, do I have to reinstall windows 7 after installing the ram or do I just shut off the laptop, install it and when I turn it back on, i'm good to go?

How did you get 6GB? I did not think there were 3GB sticks. Are there 3X2GB sticks? If so, the question is which slot is empty? Under the back, or under the keyboard?

Its no big deal at all to get to it, just follow the FRU guide. Takes 15 min tops. I bumped min up to 12 but had to go under keyboard.

Just be careful not to strip the screws!! Be sure you are using the correct size screwdriver.
Go to youtube and search for joebarchuck. He has a video up there.

Alright so i installed the ram and it was actually way easier than it looked.

Btw, i didn't have to the front modules since in the computer they had a 2gb and 4gb and they sent another 4gb so it worked out perfectly!
