Have you tried w/the latest patch? Civ5 was patched two days ago...
-
Yep, latest patch, windows 7 service pack 1, and latest steam patch. Same results with crossfire enabled. For the record it's the only game on my system that crashes with crossfire enabled....so know it's something specific to Civ V and the later AMD drivers.
-
I almost wonder if I should try just to see if I have the same problem. Since I have an R1, it's always possible it's something to do with y(our) hardware configuration...
-
Hi Lord_Zath...would be very interesting to see. If it wasn't for the fact that a few other R2 folks have the same problem i'd be looking at other stuff on my system as well. Let me know how it goes if you upgrade your driver would be interesting. Good luck
-
well I meant R2 M17x vs R1 M17x. Not system specific, as I doubt that could be the case. I'll see if I can do the update this weekend.
-
Disappointing. Did the 11.2 update, installed the latest CAT or whatever and guess what. CRASH. Crashed when changing strategic views, when changing overlays, and when loading a leaderhead screen (Monty). Turned off crossfire and no problems. I'd go back to 10.3, but I want to see how other games handle it first. It's hard to go back to drivers that are nearly a year old!

Well Had a few issue on my system Mainly Power button and Keyboard lighting so sent it in for repairs. Power button workes, Keyboard lighting still dont work.
But I also had the grapics cards upgraded to dual 5870s So this might give us a point where the issue happen.

Hey guys, for those who are still interested...I still get the hang with 11.4 drivers and CAP 5. Not that I expected any different, but thought I'd share.
Although there is a new Civ 5 patch coming out soon...although I'm not expecting that to address this either -
yeah I've been hanging since I updated as well. I don't care, though - Civ V runs just fine with one card going, so I guess it's not as mission critical as it could be
-
Hi Lord_Zath, yep I agree...although I just keep thinking "the next driver...the next patch will fix it" lol.
Oh well, at least it gives me something to try once a new driver comes out -
Hi all,
So 11.5 released today, with the release notes below:
Resolved Issues for the Windows XP Operating System
Civilization V no longer stops responding during game launch when Crossfire is enabled.
So I was curious if this also fixed the issue with Windows 7 or not...and the
verdict is:
Nope..still seems to crash in Windows 7 with crossfire enabled...
I just did a quick test, so will try a few more things, but doesn't look like this addressed the windows 7 crossfire problem. -
haha you had me all excited for a minute.
TBH, I'm still running without crossfire. Just doesn't seem to be much of an improvement as I thought it would be. In some instances (missing profile perhaps) I get worse performance in XF! -
Hi Lord_Zath
haha, yeah now I just think it's become an obsession of mine to see it actually work with crossfire. Maybe next month -
Sorry been quiet for the last Few weeks. My game has not crash yet.
. On Turn 870. World Huge 22 Civilaztion, Country Knock out 8 Country. 22 City States, knock out 12. Still in Crossfire Mode. Every thing Max out.
I am still waiting to see it to crash.
I hope both of you can play the full game.
On my last setup dual Ati 4870s I would crash at 735 turns. With ati drivers 10.3 Drivers. 12-22-2010 Last time I played with 4870s.
