Good, so that is indeed fixed. I dont have a system to test but it might be normal that the system boot would be a little longer with a disk in, there are enough people here to test that with the Win 7 disk.

It's probably one of the many crazy problems you can run across with win 7 installs.

This place is great with help, just sit back and relax you're in good company.

My boot time is fairly long, probably 45 seconds. I get a long pause right after the bios and before the windows log in.

I don't care so much until I get a 256ssd and some faster ram.

I think it's definitely the case since there's no way to disable the boot devices. Even with boot priority it might try to scan the optical drive, i'll check it out now.

Which SSD do you have then? 45 sec. is very long.

optical drive definitely scans during bootup, tried it three times. However boot time is the same at 43 seconds.

    Patriot Torqx 128

It's rated for up to 260 only 206 reads but it's 2 years and several generations old at this point.

Not worth switching to the 1 slot and clean reinstall.

I was looking at it, but I'm not going to buy another SSD until I can afford a 256 model. At almost $400 it's pretty steep. The torqx is still plenty fast but it's what, half the speed of this gen's highest?

I've noticed that with my laptop as well. It adds 5 sec on the alienhead screen with any discs inside don't worry about that. :) Glad you made it through
