I like to make sure that the things I have look good, and my laptop is definitely no exception. If you're going to have a piece of equipment worth $3K, it better look spiffy at all, times, right? To this end, I'd like to know what cleaning products people have had the most luck with for cleaning not only of the matte screen, but also the lid, palmrest area and keyboard as well. I was pretty good at cleaning my R1, but the AW 17 is a whole different ball of wax (never dealt with the rubberized surface before). How do you make your Alienware sparkle? Any advice would be helpful.

I use Simple Green for the everything but the display, it works really well. I have some screen cleaners for my display, the ones I use currently are caseen NATUREGUARD and they are amazing.

I just use an alcohol wipe on the whole machine and my r3 is still in pretty much great condition. Just personal opinion though.

Aren't those liquids to agressive for the soft touch surface?

Simple Green is way too strong for such applications, lol.

I've been using this kit for years. It works on everything. They made the bottle smaller, though.

I've been using simple green on my laptops for years and they've all looked great, granted you don't use full strength you have to dilute it with water like the instructions say. We use it at work to clean client machines and haven't found anything that can take the grease, food and neglect off peoples PCs as good as simple green. :D

Do you use that on the entire machine?

I'm sure it works good if you dilute it. The palm rest material is pretty fragile compared to the last generation laptops, so I'd recommend something a bit weaker.

Simple Green is very potent stuff.

I'll keep that in mind but I have yet to see any damage and the palm rest still looks new, I'll post something if that changes. I'm definitely not recommending full strength to anyone, lol.
