I just bought bioshock Infinite, late bloomer I know. I started playing it and not 5 min. Into it the game crashes to desktop. I assumed it had to do with my ridiculous clocks I have set for crysis 3. So I turned them back to original flashed vbios clocks. I believe it's something 756/1800. I would still get an occasional stutter, lets say a 15-20 FPS drop. So, I again dropped the core clock down the the stock clock and running 720/1800. Still flashed vbios but stock clocks as for the 680m. But, still get this occasional stutter. I'm not trying to run the game any higher settings than what Nvidia experience has suggested.

Do I need to lower the clocks even more? What are others running there clocks at for this game? Should I flash my card back to the stock vbios? I wouldn't think that would matter considering I can set the clocks back to OEM clocks.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the latest drivers installed? Slight stutter will always be there in this game time to time but not like horrible stutter, do you watch the clocks and fps and all that with like msi afterburner or evga precision? I mean the 680m is no slouch of a card, stock clocks for these are 758/1800, I would say watch the clocks and see if there is something that is dropping or if you are getting a little too hot. I noticed that when I use nvidia inspector I get really lame clock drops but when I just use evga or msi it stays steady. I run Bioshock at 941/2400 and never get any stutter and thats with just one card right now, but I do have a i7 2960xm cpu @ 4.5ghz tho but still never the less you shouldn't be seeing drops like this.

I've completed Bioschock without a glitch, no bugs at all no stutter or other artifacts. Very stable game. I run OC on stock vbios. Latest drivers.

Yes, I use afterburner to watch my temps and FPS while playing I just got done playing for 3 hours and never saw a temp over 64C and ran an average 62 FPS. But it seems like there is that occasional stutter. I am also on the latest drivers. I maintain a steady 97-99% GPU usage. It's just like every 20-30 min ill get this stutter. Not so bad that its unplayable just that little annoyance that would bring me here to ask for suggestions. There is no way I could run your clocks I crashed to desktop at 915/2250.

    MSI.PNG

I was actually able to run 915/2250 this time without any crashes. As you can see I maintain steady core and memory clocks, never exceed 64C, but I get those occasional drops in GPU usage and that also drops my FPS by 15-20 for that quick spike. It does the same thing on stock clocks.

The biggest spike in the middle is a drop from 99% GPU usage to 76%. That is also the major FPS spike you can see. which in this case because I'm OC dropped my from 80 FPS to 60 FPS. But like i said. Its not so bad that it's unplayable. Just that random occurrence that makes it annoying.

If it didn't do it on stock clocks I would understand I'd need to drop my clocks a little to make them more stable. But, it happens on any clocks i set.

Could this be my CPU telling me that it's where my bottle neck is, especially for this game? Doesn't happen on any other game but this one.

bioshock infinite also required me to lower my crysis 3 clocks by 25mhz to be stable. Every game engine handles clocks differently. Also, remember bioshock has stutter issues on PC especially when running around and loading new areas

My issue occured even on stock clocks, so your reasoning the game stutters regardless explains everything. I suppose I'll just deal with it. Thanks

Yep I just dealt with it also. Stuttering gets real bad when ur about to enter a new area or large room for a couple seconds then gets a little smoother. Unreal engine always had issues when loading textures instantly without any stutter or frame skipping
