I just benched my system with 3dmark 06. I got 17763 marks, is this too low of a score given my hardware? (hardware in sig)
-
I can get in 1900 range in 3dmark 06. But i have 2720qm.
-
That looks a little low, the 6970M is supposed to have that score on average. Try something else like 3DMark Vantage or 3DMark 11.
Edit: Didn't notice the 2630QM, but still you should try the other benchmarks to make sure. -
Did his udervolt by any chance affected his score?

06 is mostly cpu bound
try running vantage its a better bench for gpu's. -
-
I get P13596 3DMarks in vantage. again, is this normal or under par?
-
what you get for the gpu score in vantage? if around 13k+- then your good.
my stock vantage is about 14k total with a 2820, so i think your pretty well off. -
Ok my vantage score for the GPU is a 12600.......... but its detecting my card as a 6970m...... when I clearly have a 6990m. Why is that? Would drivers have anything to do with it?
EDIT
I was checking my hardware device id's, and my graphics card is 0x6720......... the same as a 6970m. However through GPUz, it shows that I have 1120 unified shaders. Does the 6990m use the same device id as the 6970m? -

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Mine shows the same thing. I think that drivers and utilities haven't yet had time to catch up with coding for the new 6990M's. They'll adjust.

interesting find: i flashed my original vbios and my score went up to 12800 up from 12600. I don't know if its a vbios thing or just chance. As for the R2, i see no reason why the 6990m wouldn't work. Same device id, same power consumption, just bigger pipelines.
Comparable 3dmark 06 scores?
