Hey guys, I was offered an M17x for a warranty exchange for my L702x. (No details on replacement yet)

What would the specs of a comparable M17x be compared with what's in my signature? Should I expect an R3? R4? Anything I should look out for? Anything I should ask for?

    XPS 17 L702X
    2630qm
    14GB
    555m 3GB
    3D-1080p
    750GB+750GB
    Advanced 6230
    9cell

I'd much rather have the Alienware. And guys, I do like the 3D, I know a lot of you don't lol. My TV supports it, I have two pairs of glasses, and game frames may drop in half, but sometimes it's fun! The display quality in 2D is pretty great too!

What do you guys think? Thanks!

They'd probably give similar spec/price so 3630m, 8-16gb ram, 3d screen maybe, similar hard drives. I don't know about the 3d aspect, I'm not sure nvidia 3d is the same as tv 3d specs.

If if the Alienware was a base model it'll still destroy what you currently have.

The nvidia driver can drive a 3d TV without purchasing the 120hz screen BUT you have to purchase the driver component (3D TV Play) as it's a freebie if you purchase their 3D kit. I love it, in 720P (50hz) frame rates are good and no input lag. Quality is the same as far as I can see. 24hz at 1080i is useless for gaming :(

    Good Luck.

you should be able to get a 3d display and at least a 675m if you push hard enough. Just be calm and try to reason with whoever you end up talking to. Good luck!!

Let's hope so, at least I know I'll be getting an nvidia chip with the 3D display. AMD driver support is so crappy x.x

AMD driver support is crappy? What are you basing that off of? Your old laptops? The last time their drivers sucked was around when the 5970 was released.

Yea, all my old systems are impossible to update. I know it's the nature of the beast, but at least with nVidia, I can update just about anything under the sun. Not bashing on AMD, just saying. The last system I owned with a dedicated ATI chipset was my XPS 1647 with a 5730. I haven't had a desktop card in forever either, so I'm the last person to consider an expert :) Performance for price, I guess you can't beat it.

Heh you can have my 6990m to play with, but that is beside the point. Glad AMD is finally getting their act together in the driver department. :p
