No personal experience here unfortunately however I did look at these sleeves a while ago.

I'd recommend you scroll down and read the customer reviews on the Slappa link you posted as well as do some investigation on the dimensions. Since I just looked at this again for you I'll save you the effort this time:

    Slappa Stealth sleeve:
    17" Sleeve Laptop Compartment Dimensions 17.25"(H) x 12.75"(D), ???" (H)

    EDIT: Razer sleeve:
    17" Sleeve Dimensions (not sure if this is internal/external) 16.1"(H) x 11.8"(D) x 1.3"(H)

    Asus G73JH:
    17" Laptop Dimensions 16.3"(H) x 12.6"(D) x 1.8"(H)

    Alienware m17x:
    17" Laptop Dimensions 15.98"(H) x 12.65"(D) x 2.02" to 2.11" (H - Front to Back)

One comment in the reviews section suggested that the 17" Stealth was too small for the Asus G73JH. This infers to me that a m17x with similar dimensions would not fit either. Also, the Stealth sleeve barely fits a 15.6" Alienware laptop apparently. Doesn't look like there's any way you'll fit it into a Razer sleeve.

You might prefer to investigate the Matrix option instead which has an 18" version. Again, scroll down and read the reviews - it apparently fits the G73JH but is 'snug' and one reviewer seems to be using it for an m17.

    Slappa Matrix sleeve:
    17" Sleeve Laptop Compartment Dimensions 18.25"(H) x 13.25"(D), ???" (H)

    Does that help?

I just use the cover that came with the laptop, but then again I have a orion to put it in too.

I was afraid of this. I had posted this same question in this forum awhile back, and was told by another NBR poster, that matter of factly, the Razer sleeve fit. I asked if he had one, due to the given dimensions on their web site, and never recieved a reply. I have ordered one now, due to his recommendation, and am still waiting for it to arrive (Razer stuff usually takes about 2 - 3 weeks to get out here for some reason). I will let you know for sure, as soon as it arrived.

I too, am currently using the factory sleeve, but have been looking for something a little more protective, due to the conditions out here (heat in the 130's, and severe dust), so I am really hoping the Razer sleeve I ordered comes through, and works out. Otherwise I am back to square one.

Yeah, those were a few of the sleeves I was looking at as well, thanks for the input, though. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any definitive answers except for what you can infer from reviews and hearsay.

Yeah, I ordered the messenger and the backpack version of the orion, but I think it'd still be nice to have a sleeve to carry it in.

Yeah, I saw that thread when I googled m17x compatible sleeves and I noticed that he didn't answer, which kind of made me doubt his answer. I'd love to hear whether or not that sleeve works for you.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, the dimensions listed for your linked sleeve show it will be too small to accommodate an m17x/G73JH.

The m17x/G73JH are completely different beasts compared to a MacBook.

OK guys, the Razer sleeve is a NO GO... It is not even close, which is what I was afraid of seeing their size specs. Now onto more searching, and making sure someone actually has the sleeve they say fits, before I make a purchase!

Thanks for the info, debaucher, I will definitely look into that one. I appreciate the heads up!

I am going to confirm this sleeve, that debaucher referenced fits perfectly. So, we do have a working option now, and this one is a very nice option at that.

    Thanks debaucher!

Your welcome, I like it too.
Took me a lot of searching and comparing measurements before I bought it so I am glad I can save others the hassle.

just keep in mind the M17x is not a 17" book, the screen is 17"! so if you are getting a 17" case/cover, no... it will not fit.

Since this sleeve is marketed for laptops in the 17" to 18.4" range, and reviews for it have stated that the M17x and NP8120 fit, it's worth trying to me. I will post back either way and I'll even take pics of it.

it would also be cool if you or someone who has tried this product with success to make a video and post it on youtube or something.

I've thought about getting a sleeve but with so many sales staff from so many stores (tigerdirect, best buy, futureshop) saying my M17xR2 will fit in a 17 (just cause it's a 17" laptop doesn't prove squat) and some say no and some just going... huh?!? as I ask them, makes me wonder about if this product will work and the staff are properly trained to handle customer requests and issues.

I've even thought about carrying the massive M17xR2 with me into computer stores to check for myself if it will fit and hopefully not get jumped as i walk out from the store to my car >_<

End thought: to anyone that has this or is getting this please post some pictures or make a video (if you want)

I thought about bringing it to my local Microcenter as well but I looked over all their stuff first and it was easy to tell that none of them would fit. The largest they would would comfortably fit something like a dv7 or the like but this is a whole different ballgame.

I received my sleeve today and we have a winner!!

It is the Case Logic ENS17 sleeve:
Case Logic 17 Laptop Sleeve > Laptop > Case Logic
Amazon.com: Case Logic Neoprene Sleeve for 18"17-18" Laptops (Black): Computer & Accessories
Newegg.com - Case Logic Black 17" Laptop Sleeve Model ENS-17
