I noticed this happening only after I updated my BIOS. I was on my laptop when I accidentally moved it an the adapter got snagged on something and pulled out gently. Everything was fine and it just powered the screen down a little and was still working. I plugged it back in, it powered back up and worked for maybe 4 seconds until the whole system froze. After force rebooting I decided to test this to see if it would happen again, and it did. Even worse and what I didn't expect is after unplugging it while it was frozen and plugging it back in blue screened it and I spent 20 minutes recovering because while it was memory dumping, because of my luck, the cord unplugged again and froze the memory dump. After fixing it not being able to start up I figured recovering to a safe point and troubleshooting everything would've fixed the unplugging issue. Long story short, it did not and I'm afraid of my laptop whenever it gets unplugged now. Help?

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having, but you need to post more information about your system. Is it an M17xR1 or R2? What video adapters do you have? What system bios version are you running. More information would help us help you.

I have an M17xR2, my video adapters are Crossfire ATI Mobility HD5870 mobility and I'm running BIOS A09, at least that's what the update said.

EDIT: I knew I was missing something when I realized there was a flashdrive sticking out of my laptop. I forgot to install the VBIOS for the GPUs. Everything seems to be in working condition now. I'd lose my head if it weren't attached.

Good to hear, that is why I wanted to know about your system specs. Because of the updated vbios and 8.763 drivers.
