I just got my new Alienware M17XR3 this past August, and than ordered a new second 750GB HDD. I put in, booted up my laptop, Intel's Rapid Storage Technology took over. I followed the setup process, but now I am finding out it is not the way I wanted it to be setup.

I created a Recovery Volume. What I want is to be able to partition the second HDD to save backups and to move my media files to.

The second HDD is not even showing up in to chose. I tried to redo my Intel settings, but my second HDD still does not show up.

I have gone through Computer Management > Disk Management, and it does not show up there.

It does show up in the BIOS.

Someone told me to change my BIOS settings to ATA or AHCI. Right now it says RAID, and when I get ready to switch to ATA or AHCI I get a warning message that I may lose all my data. !!!

    So now I am stuck.

    Someone please help.

Are you sure there is not un-allocated disk space showing up in Disk Management? I installed a new hard drive last week, and it showed up there. As that warning says, I highly believe you WILL lose your data if you switch it out of RAID. I left mine in RAID, and it is working fine.
