Have new mainboard new LCD and Refurb 5870s, when I initiate a shutdown the computer proceeds up until when the LCD is turned off and the final shutdown sequence occurs, but then the computer will hang in this state until I hard-shut it down via the powerbutton. only the LED lights remain on. The 1 5870 that's in there is one of the A00 revision cards but I'm not sure that should keep it from shutting down. Laptop gets shipped off to the depot soon mostly because of this problem (but orginally because of the 5870 CF no boot), just wanted to see if it was something stupid before I sent it away. I haven't tatoo'd the mainboard, but again it shouldn't be causing the problem. This also happened on my 'defective' mainboard(which probally wasen't defective since it would boot with 1 of the master cards, but not both).

Has it always done this? I haven't seen the not shutting down issue before. Safe mode?

I'll go try it in safe mode. It started after my orginal cards went out. When I got the refurbs and then found out CF wouldn't work, I tried the 1 card and it would do the same thing on the old mainboard. So No on the always doing part, but ever since I started having the problem yes, it has always done this. Not sure it's a windows error, as windows fully shutsdown but it appears something Bios related is not turning the computer off. The only perhepials I have attached are my Razer Mabma, I know it does it without anything attached too however.

It should be noted that the computer will not restart either without the same problem. I just attempted to boot into safe mode and the computer shut-down sucessfully however. Which probally means it's something to do with the 10.7 Dell beta's, The issue did not occur with the AMD 10.7 Drivers, although I may try to revert to the Orginal Dell Drivers to see if it still happens.

On 10.5's now, computer restarts and shutsdown correctly. Never would have thought a GPU driver could do that o_O
