A couple of days ago my computer started freezing shortly after logging in, to make sure it wasn't a hard drive problem I started a chkdsk until I got a BAD_POOL_CALLER blue screen; I figured it could be a ram problem but after that blue screen my computer would turn on but wouldn't display anything on the screen.

In an attempt to fix that, I disconnected the CMOS battery and re connected it.. the problem now is that as soon as I connect or put the battery back in my computer starts itself and shuts off within 5 secs. While doing so, nothing shows up on the screen and it gets stuck on an endless loop of restarts.

I've tried power cycling and booting up the computer w/o ram, etc.. but there's nothing I can do to avoid this behavior. I figure it could be a power supply issue, but I don't really know how to check that for sure. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks in advance.

So it starts without you having to press the power button?

the part of the MB that controls the voltage somehow got fired. its basically not filtering the current coming into the laptop. essentially the MB is done. there are some places on ebay that do repair but they charge as much as a new Mb would be, the last thing i would suggest it is to completely remove at the same time the bios battery, the battery and leave unplugged for a decent amount of time. 24hrs or so, then only plug in the ac adapter after re-installing the bios battery and see if that fixes it. if not then its toast. sorry bro
