I am getting a system with the 256gig SSD and the 750gig HD. Will it come configured to use the hard drive for documents, photos, music etc? If not is that easy to change?

Windows will come preinstalled on your system so, yes, you will have the Documents , Photos, Music folders.

Thanks! I guess to make my question a little clearer, will it come with those folders set up on Drive D (the hard drive) where you would generally want them, or the default Drive C (the SSD boot drive)?

The default locations for those folders will be the SSD (c: drive) within the Users folder, but they can be easily relocated/redefined to use the HDD (usually d).

Thanks! That will be one of the first things I do, after updating Windows and drivers.

My Samsung 830 and fresh Win7 install, had the drive setup with TRIM already. And the software that came with my SSD did the check for me as well as changes some of the recommended settings. Good Luck!

Did the 830 come from Alienware or did you do your own mod?

Windows 7 doesn't need any tweeks its SSD ready, to move your files its easy
Just got to your personal user files location "ie your name" in the start menu, then right click on the folders you want to relocate, click properties then location select move and point it to your new destination

I bought it myself. I ordered my r3 with the cheapest HDD and Ram options.
I installed a Momentus XT 500GB, and the ram when I got it. I didn't like the way the SSD were trending reliability wise when I bought... but now the the newer Sata 3 Intel and Samsung drives... i jumped... very happy... did a fresh os install on my ssd and have all my files and docs on the Momentus XT. :)
