I currently own a m14x and have considered selling it and getting a m17x for about the same price from either the outlet or from ebay. I would like to get as close as a straight across trade as possible but better performance. thinking i might could get 1300 for my m14x on craigslist. what are your thoughts and what specs should i consider. thanks in advance

580 or 6990 and 1080p screen. everything else can be easily upgraded at a later date as finances allow.

when ordering from the outlet does the nameplate get taken off, do they put a new one on, or do you get somebody else's name on your laptop?
Does it come with some of the some "goodies" as the ones you customize or is it just the basics: software, charger, etc.?

The nameplate will just say "M17X". No goodies, just the basics.

People say that customizing the nameplate reduces resale value, but I could honestly give a crap... It's funny to show people you've got a laptop with your name engraved on it :D
