Hopefully this doesn't get moved because I am specifically looking for advice on which SSD to get for my new M17X R3, I would like to keep budget less than 120$.

Please let me know the best bang for the buck...and if this does get moved privately hit me up, I want to know which one plays nice with our machines!!!!

Yeah I am going to go with that one of the 128gb version.

    1. I will do the alienrespawn backup first to dvd media.
    2. What is the general consensus AHCI or RAID in BIOS?
    3. Then fresh windows 7 install.....
    4. Then the drivers order in the other walkthrough guide...
Will all my hotkeys and stuff still work on the keyboard, like brightness up down?
A little unclear as to which drivers I will use for my 6990M I read usually the IGP Intel is bundled with the AMD driver, can you guys point me to which one I should use?
    5. Another concern I got the Internal WirelessHD transmitter where will I find that driver?

Is either one of these the correct one?

For 120, I'd get a new OEM X25-M G2 80 GB or maybe if you can stretch your budget, a 80 GB Intel 320 series.

What benefits or increase do I get if I step up to the Intel?

Getting a reliable SSD, unlike a certain other company that starts with O and ends with CZ. Honestly I recommend Intel or Samsung over any other company as, what is the point of speed if your SSD is going to crap out? Most users cannot tell the difference between 200 read and 400 read. So why not get something that has a proven track record?

Seconded. Have generally had a good experience with Intel and Samsung and not so much OCZ.

I also root for Samsung / Intel.

Crucials for me personally were unreliable, with LPM registry tweaks.. draining power, running a bit hot.

Samsung 830's are very, very well made, positive reviews everywhere. The Intel, you simply can't go wrong. They are very reliable.

Good choice. The OEM favourite. Very good stability and performance. MAke sure you upgrade to the newest firmware.

Will do, what should I set BIOS to AHCI or RAID before I pop the drive in, does it matter? Also what bay should my SSD go in...will I be moving my current 750gb in there? Sorry I want this to go as smooth as possible!

You'll want AHCI, SSDs perform better on AHCI. If I did anything but AHCI for my R2, it caused a very slow POST. The R3 IIRC should support dual bays...not sure if it still uses the interposer + HDD caddy from R1/R2.
