This has to be the most epic device created, AND EVEN BETTER, with it we can finally put the HDMI-Input port on our laptops to good use. YES THAT MEANS NON-3D capable screens can FINALLY use 3D! But not in the traditional sense...
Basically it converts HDMI-Input signal into HDMI 1.4 3D which is 24hz (*2 for 3D). Any screen that outputs 60hz or higher is capable of doing this.
Now, what this product does is it does all the black magic and the output is side-by-side 3D.
It will work 100% on DLP's because the refresh rate is so fast @60hz, the issue comes into play with laptops however...Laptops use LCD which is a slow technology unfortunately, and it costs a boatload for a fast response time screen. I don't know the response time on the one in my 3D but I am sure it's at least 4-5ms response.
I am buying both versions of the product for testing purposes and I will let everyone know how it goes, they have 2 main products that I personally am interested in (3 that would work for us however)
1) VIP 3D-Theatre: MSRP is $499.00 This works for Games, Movies, Satellite/Cable & Internet (not sure what the & Internet means) and 60Hz/120Hz TV/projector
This product works on 60hz and 120hz screens and will convert both to full 3D HDMI 1.4
This one will work 100% on the M17x R3 and probably most other laptops with HDMI-In. This is the one I am purchasing to test on the M17x R3 and when done testing it will be permanently used for a 65" DLP.
3D-Displayer: MSRP is $299.00 Games and Movies & 60Hz/120Hz TV/projector has less "features" (not really sure why the other one supports satellite/cable & internet anyway(
This one will work 100% on the M17x R3 and probably most other laptops with HDMI-In but comes with a cheaper price-tag.
Apparently this product is for DLP's only, confirming that but if that's accurate I will remove it completely---------------3D-Gamer: MSRP is $199. Works with 120hz screens only
This last product they already have available which may or may not work with the M17x R3, I am ordering this one right now anyway so I will confirm if it does work, basically, if the HDMI-In signal supports 120hz then it will work, if it only supports 60hz, the other products will work.
I can't even tell you all how excited I am about this just finding out while in the process of trying to get 3D on the 485M in the R3 working. This might sound retarded but I may attempt a loopback from the HDMI-Out to the HDMI-In and attempt 3D that way as well...LMFAO, wouldn't that be ironic, Using the HDMI-Output on the laptop and feeding it back through itself to generate the 3D image using an external device...
I will definately let you all know how this venture goes, I can only say I am glad that I can, at least today, afford this stuff to test out for you all so you don't have to![]()

Nice find, I may try the gamer one. Not really sure if i want to spend $500 on the VIP one. I wonder if this could work with the 6970M, considering that it supports 3D

This is independent of your video card. HDMI-In routes straight to your laptop screen. Essentially yes it would work, but only for external sources, in this case, a PS3. Now, if my loop-back idea DOES work, then technically it should work, but time will tell.

Hehe I've plugged my R3's HDMI into itself and the quality drops pretty noticibly. Maybe that's tolerable when 3d is on.

2 IR active shutter glasses/emitters $129.00
1 IR active shutter glasses – no emitter $99.00 (we need to change that on the website today as our costs aren’t what we anticipated)
1 3D-Theatre $499.00
1 3D-Displayer $299.00
1 5V 1.0A USB wall-connector $15.00
Shipping USPS Priority Mail $9.99
TOTAL 1,179.99
Will test these two products out on the R3 as soon as they get here.
Kind of overkill however I know a lot of people would like to use their PS3 on their laptop...
A lot of us just threw almost $1,000 at a video card to upgrade our $3,000 laptops anyway, what's another $500? -
Just FYI this DOES indeed work, haven't had time to play with it 100% as one of the glasses I received was defective but yay, 3D from consoles on AW

When I can fully test it, busy with other stuff right now.
Convert 60/120hz Screens into 3D-Capable works with M17x R3 HDMI-In!
