The cooling fan on my M17x-R3 has stopped working. Any ideas?

Just one of them or both of them?
Check to see if the connector has come loose. If both fans are connected, either your fan is dead or the connector on the motherboard is dead.

Look at the service manual in my sig for reference on how to take off the bottom panel to expose the fans.
