I have used Samsung magic to clone a Samsung SSD it did the recovery too. And I have used Miray HDClone 4.3 its free and will clone SSD's I have done more than 10 and it will do the Alienrespawn also.

If you are moving from an HDD to an SSD it's better to do a clean install.

What alienware-l_porras is trying to tell you, is that when you install windows 7 or windows 8 on a SSD, windows is automaticcally adjusting some settings for you, by disabling disk defrag by example.

If you install Windows on a HDD first, disk defrag won't be disabled, and if your clone and restore this on the new SSD, the disk defrag will run, and may damaged your SSD.

Normally I would agree with you but I want the hidden restore system files that are on the drive so I can have the system factory restore on the SSD.

If your using a Samsung SSD you can use Data Migration..and then Samsung Magician to optimize the SSD. If your using another brand SSD try Miray HDClone, works very well with standard HD's to SSD's it adjusts for the not having a platter to chips. I have used both software with no problems on many Alienware systems.

Yes it did and yes I did a back up to it.. your SSD will come with the Data migration that will clove the drives. Magician will optimize the OS for using a SSD.

as-copy-bench Samsung SSD 840 8.20.2013 9-27-13 PM.png as-ssd-bench Samsung SSD 840 8.20.2013 9-27-35 PM.png have not gotten the 1TB drive yet, this is from the 840 EVO 750 GB drive I got in first. the results should be very close when I do get my 1TB 840 EVO .as you can tell the cloning worked perfectly the only msg I am getting is that the drive is not set up in ACHI mode. I always thought that the raid mode that Alienware is set to default by was also ACHI. can anyone give me some insight on this ?
