Setup: m17xr3
8gb ram
6970m
i7 2720
NOTE: before running these tests i made sure i ran on high performance, ran on AC power.
I noticed when I benchmarked the core/memory clocks were 100/150 respectively. and the physical/logical processor used were only 1/8.
Saw this on 3dMark11 test.

Also made a test earlier
with the 3dMark06 test.
Results were very dissappointing.

I noticed that everything on my system went slower the time
I restored my computer using Alienrespawn. All the drivers were intact I guess
but the performance of the video card definitely sucked.
Need help guys. Could it be outdated drivers? BIOS? Any suggestions I can update? CCC? Need help guys im kinda upset
BUMP: UPDATE
Just got a BSOD when I tried to open GPU-z

Use Trixx or Overdrive to manually overclock a tiny bit and it may start working correctly. I used to see this fairly often with 6970M CrossFire. The clock speeds would get stuck in ULPS, but just barely changing clock speeds manually would get the cards "unstuck" every time. Hope this works for you, too.

Seems like the PowerPlay setting does more harm than good! -
I just had this problem when I used AlienRespawn to clean up files in my laptop. Although I did update or install something but I forgot what it is. I also had a similar problem before.
When playing COD Blackops, full settings i just had along 10-20 fps. But after i installed something (install or updated drivers. not really sure exactly) it did better.
Anyone here know what the best drivers are for 6970M? -

To reinforce GeoCake's post, check PowerPlay in CCC (under Power). Your clocks are behaving exactly like what happens when PP is disabled.

oh he has another thread
got it!

Thanks rev. Problem solved.
Another problem, m17xr3 reaches temps to 100 degress celsius...
WHAT DO?? -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Wonderful, glad it worked. Now, open it up and clean out the fans and vents using compressed air; if it's really dirty, remove the fans to get better access to the radiator and vents. Fire it up and check the temps using something like HWINFO64 ( HWiNFO64 Download) and verify that the fans are operating. If that doesn't drop the heat dramatically, time to repaste the GPU and/or CPU, as applicable. http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/561599-m17x-r3-cpu-gpu-re-pasting-guide-w-pics.html. Old Danger can walk you right through it.
