    Hello,

I purchased a M17X R3 off of dell outlet about a week ago. I am having issues with the laptop not charging. Every time I plug in the adapter a window pops up saying that the adapter is not supported. As a result the it is not charging the battery. The adapter also looks different that the adapter pictured on dells website for the R3. I am beginning to think that dell sent me one from a previous M17X (R1 or R2). The dell part number on the adapter is D846D. Would someone be able to tell me if this is the correct power adapter or not. If not, what is the p/n of the correct one?

Also, I tried all the usual tricks for checking the adapter (double checked connections, reset battery, made sure charging was enabled in bios) with no luck. :(

Same as I have I guess.

Any ideas what could be causing it not to charge? I have heard of this being a problem on some of the R1's and R2's. Anyone heard of it on the R3's?

While I'm not having the same problem as you, it's similar I suppose. I have the "Plugged in, not charging" problem. Call support is about all I can say. I have a new battery and charger on the way now before it's replacement time.
