i ordered my R4 with 6gb memory with the plan that it be upgraded the moment it arrives at my door. i'm deciding between two choices. I'll be getting two sets for the total of 16GB (4GB X 4)

    samsung

    Amazon.com: Samsung Electronics Extreme Low Voltage 30nm SODIMM 8 Dual Channel Kit DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM MV-3T4G3D/US: Electronics

    corsair

    Amazon.com: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 1600MHz PC3 12800 Laptop Memory(CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9): Computers & Accessories

corsair has better timing (9-9-9-24) than samsung (11-11-11-28) but corsair is 1.5V, while samsung is 1.35V - thus slightly lower power consumption.

which one should i go for? i value stability since the performance gain for corsair would be minuscule but if the stability between these two are the same, i see no reason not to go for the corsair.

or should i look for something more exotic that does 1866Mhz, rather than 1600Mhz? Does the chipset that comes with R4 support 1866Mhz natively?

    thanks!

They corsairs are good. Low voltage has it's benefits but not a huge amount. You probably won't notice a difference either way :)

Go with whatever is cheapest and looks nicest :)

Another vote for the Corsair memory. I've used them in many rigs and they've never let me down.

If you haven't played Arkham City yet, it's going for $15 bucks right now on Steam, sale going on.

For RAM, I'd probably just buy the best balance of performance and price from any of the reputable companies, though I am partial to G.Skill. It's not like you can see it when installed in a laptop unlike with many desktop cases.

Cuz i'd like to add some memory too, since I have the base 6gb.
..And I'd like to keep the original 4gb in it.
...or should I just buy 4 brand new 4gb ?

Deus Ex HR is STILL about 7bucks in amazon, steam activation possible as well, and it is one hell of a game :)

Crysis2 a must, BF3 also a must, Metro 2033 just for stressing the new toy a must :) AND Witcher2 MUST!! for the love of graphics :)
