This makes me think the m17x R5 is coming soon.

Yea that is a good indication that m17xr4 is no more, obviously dell will keep getting rid of old stock as long as they have it, be it replacement laptops or outlet.

typically that is the case. Costco will clearence all its stuff before new stuff comes in, which is usually a month timeframe. Something tells me the R5 is coming in june.

Should make my purchase of an M18x R1 just that much easier. I'm ready to move onto the next level of DTR laptops. :p The 6970M is nice, but really... I'd much rather have at least two for Crossfire... and the ability to cool said GPUs while overclocking would be nice too. X3

This is off topic, but I have to say it. I really wish I had not gotten rid of my M17xR2. I got rid of it to have HDMI-In for my consoles, which I rarely used. I realize that power does become an issue with newer GPUs and an XM CPU. A single 7970M or 680M is enough for most games, but you can finagle two if you're willing to under-volt a bit and have no OC on your CPU.

Really man, the LCD was gorgeous, and it was one of the first laptops that has had several generations of upgrade-ability.

I would be interested to see the specs on the R5... but my R3 is working pretty well for me.

I think if I ever upgrade, I may look into a M18x... but that'll be at least 2 years or so away.

Ivy will become hard to sell with haswell so everyone is likely going to be moving over quickly with the launch.

I'm not gonna be bailing on my M18x for a long time. There's still an R2 motherboard and 680M option for me to take a look at. Plus I haven't heard anything about the MXM standard changing, so the M18x might see a couple more iterations of video card.

Thankfully, with age I have grown out of the benchmarking scene, and thus grown out of the need to have the newest lappy available. I'll just watch you guys battle it out. ;)
