Hello again. Well as the subject says really. I have an m17x R3 6990m, 12GB RAM, i7 2720Q.

Basically, I'm scared to open too many apps as at least a couple of times per day, the thing will stop responding (eg internet explorer). When this stops responding, everything else does too and i have to wait around 2 mins for the computer to come back around.

After this happens (like at this very moment for example) the machines starts working overtime on the fans! I mean right now I have 1 Internet window open (3 tabs) and steam (no games running) and the laptop sounds as if it's a plane on a runway about to take off!! I don't understand why it's in overdrive, it should be silent as there is nothing demanding being run. I even have power saver selected!

Also, at least once per day, usually when things stop responding, the whole thing ccrashes and shuts down and gives me the message which I will attach to this.

    Any help appreciated!

p.s i cant attach the file for whatever reason, basicaly it's a blue screen with a large message, and says 'dumping physical memory disk' at the bottom. Weird.

Daniel, the bsod (blue screen of death) that you get can be for many reasons. What you have to do is list the codes or show a screenshot so we better understand what is causing your bsod

Your type of BSOD indicates a driver issue.

if you have norton or Mcaffee...uninstall it. Then run driver sweeper to clean the bits left behind.

have you updated any drivers recently? did this bsod start from that moment?

No I havent got norton or macafee on the laptop :S. I use Comodo though? I can't uninstall it as i do need an anti virus. I've updated my BIOS but no drivers. well, i done a clean install a few weeks ago and obviously installed all the drivers from disk, but i havent updated since - they're actually all the newest anyways.

That BSOD started...well, the first time it appeared. And my laptop actually just randomly restarted about ten mins ago. However interestingly....after the restart, all my passwords and logins online etc have disappeared and need filling in again. This doesn't happen on a normal shut down. Any chance i have a virus/hack?

Comodo is ok as that's what i'm using too.

I'm not sure...a virus is always a possibility but to me, it seems like a driver issue. So a reinstall of your drivers will probably fix it

Right well it may have taken a month or so but eventually got sick of that happening so much and crashing my games (online so I lose stats especially on FIFA grrr) I did the fresh install....low and behold I still have to restart my laptop at least 5 times a day due to the 'not responding' error, whether it be on internet explorer or just a random file eg my documents. Any other ideas?

daniel, when IE doesn't respond, you have to reboot? OR can you just close it and restart. IE does this all the time for me, so i use Google Chrome instead and i don't have the same issues

Your games stop responding too? How so? Does it just freeze?

When IE doesn't respond, that is only the beggining. That will not respond for a while, then whatever other apps I have open I will click on, then try to go back to IE and the screen stays stuck on whatever app, then that will crash also. I cannot close anything. Can't even Ctr Alt Del. I have to use the power button. That is the most common crash. Just now I was watching a program online, the program froze and the speach kept going...then the screen blacked and the speach was still going. And it stopped like that for ten mins. Just had to power it off eventually. Sometimes it will just go straight to the BSOD.

I will start using Google Chrome however as I say it is also when running games (nothing heavy, so it's not overheating). If I'm playing fifa the prob I said just now happens now and then i.e sound carries on while game is frozen. Or sometimes boom, BSOD. Am so frustrated. I've e mailed AW Support but can't see how they can help. Even if they send someone out he may have to sit an hour or two (sods law) before i experience a prob to show him.

yeah I'm here. They have to get back to you. Your laptop is under warranty is it not?

i still think your issue is driver related...what video card driver version are you running?

Also, have you tested the ram with something like memtest86? It is a worthy excercise. bad ram will also cause these types of issues.

The only thing that you can do is try and diagnose those issues and eliminate one by one.

So reinstall the vid card drivers with the latest, run memtest86 on the ram...also check your harddrive for any errors via the windows built in tools. These are simple things that you can do yourself.

If dell comes over to you place, they will start replacing everything including the motherboard with a refurb piece of sh*te. They don't diagnose, they just keep replacing pieces until the problem goes away. The issue is that they often cause more damage than good doing this
