Say I have an M17x with 6 GB 1600 RAM (2 sticks) and say that right now there's a deal going on at Newegg selling 16 GB 1333 RAM (also 2 sticks; you might wanna check it out...). Can I put all 4 sticks in the lappy and get 22GB  RAM (2+4+8+8) that are different speeds? Or am I crazy?

It will work but it will run at the slowest speed so the 1600Mhz ones will run at 1333Mhz. What do you need that much memory for?

I really don't, but the deal is too good to pass up :D

Edit: well, with the same amount of money I could either get 16 GB in 2 dimms at 1333, or 16GB in 4 dimms at 1600. Which one would you recommend?

If I dont need to upgrade to 32gb in the future, then I'll get the 16gb 4 dimms @1600.
What's your CPU? I think some CPU is limited to 16gb anyway.

    Core i7 3610m.
I figured since I'll be using this computer for at least 3-4 years might as well future proof it...

If you think you will aim for 32gb in the future then at least get 2x8gb 1600 so you will still have 2 free slots for another 2x8 in the future.
