Keep us posted, would be very interesting to see if it works. I suspect it will not even boot due to UEFI vBIOS but I may be wrong. Let us know!

I had a m6100 same gpu in the photo with uefi bios in my m17x r2 and m15x both ran without issue. M15x crashed under full load. But m17x r2 never did. It didn't have a crossfire cable connection or the protective sticker on the back. Reason why I want this one.

So how are you testing crossfire if one card has the connector, and the other doesn't?

You can strip a m18x crossfire cable from the tape and use it to fit in the M17x, that’s how I crossfire the 8970M in my M17x R2

Card did arrive and was installed and working. Tried no games. But when I ran windows experience index pc would shut off then restart. Both cards detected as radeon hd 8950.

Pc screen would then freeze doing any task. I have 240watt slim oem dell psu with 720qm 8gb ram.

    I kinda gave up lol

Sounds like a driver or power issue. Try an older driver rather than the newer ones, I believe @Raidriar used the ReLive driver for 8970M crossfire, along with an undervolted vBIOS. If it was the display you'd have visual issues and messed up colours.

Yeah the last working driver I had was 17.3.3. Does fan control work natively?

gpu z reported fans one time at 30% then 39% so i suppose auto fan control but i could be wrong. i really tired of taking my alienware apart i am almost out of thermal compound.

i will give it one more shot with the driver you provided. i had a m15x that run for 30minutes gaming no problems until i reached the adapters power limit with a 920xm and 8950m

good news its uefi bios isnt the problem. i will try with drivers listed 17.3.3. if i cant get it to work you guys are free to try with the card if you want.

i had one without cf connectors working without issue so i know its compatible with the pc just got to find the driver i had before.

Send me the card without the connector and I can see if I can mod the vBIOS and see what it needs to work in the M17x. There is a chance it may not be compatible but I can see what I can do with it.

made a vBIOS dump with GPU-Z and send it to me too

i know it will work because i had a previous m6100 aka firepro m6100 or 8950m. i got rid of it because bad company 2 stuttered like crazy despite getting 60fps. :(

I mean as far as vBIOS undervolting/performance tuning, I can't release vBIOS that can't personally test (fear of bricking the card from a bad vBIOS flash), but if you're brave nough I can send something your way.
