Hey guys, ive got a question. Im using crucial M4. And ive just install it in my M17x R3. In order to fully optimized its performance, which option should i choose in BIOS?

    Is it ACHI? ATA? RAID?

Thanks! Btw, i currently chose the RAID option.

And also, what kind of software should i use to check the speed of my SSD?

Voondiaz, we are very glad to have you participating in our community and we look forward to seeing more of your posts in the future.

Selecting the RAID option was the best choice. It allows more flexibility down the road. For example, you can add an identical SSD to SATA Port0 to create a RAID0 installation later without having to reinstall Windows. If you install in AHCI mode, that's not usually an option. Crystal DiskMark is a popular tool to test SSD and HDD speeds, but there are many others out there that work well. Here is an example: http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8281/sata3.png

It is starting to be a frequent issue for some members to create a new thread to ask a simple question. This is making the job of managing the forum more difficult than it needs to be. Please use an existing thread to ask simple questions. There are many on this subject. Here are two examples of existing threads:

In many cases you will find an answer to a simple question is already posted. The trick is finding it. The forum search feature works poorly, but Google works excellent for searching our forum. site:forum.notebookreview.com M17R3 SSD
