Another day, another M17x problem :(

I recently installed Crysis on my R2 and there's a screeching noise coming from the back of the laptop during loadup (the sound is coming from the ESC button area). I have dual ati 4870's in XFire configuration and the latest 10.8 ati drivers and application profiles installed. I'm guessing it shouldnt be doing this. Plus is only happens during Crysis, I have BC2 and it doesnt happen (but I play that on medium settings as it flickers too much on high).

Anyone else experienced this that could advise? There's rep on offer :p

I get the exact same sound whenever I load crysis on both my R1 and R2 machines. Its quite an odd sound ey. Have always had it and just dismissed it. Not exactly sure what its all about though. It should be nothing to worry about though. Seems normal. However I do agree with you what a odd sound and only when loading up crysis.

It seems to be called "coil whine" that weird noise we hear. ;)
Also some state that turning on VSYNC makes the noise disappear. So I guess you could try that. However it shouldn't be anything to worry about. Just a weird sound LOL.

    Cheers.

Actually I hear similar sounds when I'm running the WEI test on windows 7. Some sort of screeching whining sound.

Yeah I get it too, but doesn't seem to effect anything...it is odd however.
