who here has played Crysis 2 with the dx 11 and high res texture packs on a 6990m?
Should i bother downloading the texture pack? Is there a big hit on FPS? Is it playable on a 6990m?

I would say to download it and see for yourself. How big is the DL? Seems like everyone has a different experience in the same situations.

tell us how it goes and what fps ur getting on ultra...so that we can compare the 6990m against 6970ms

Well I dont have the 6990m (see sig) but, I downloaded the texture pack and felt like it was really worth it, thought it really helped visuals with some extra detail. I didnt get much from the DX11 upgrade...I just turned that off if I remember correctly. Maybe it will be better on the 6990....

If you could run some benches using the Crysis 2 tool and post them in my thread below, it would be greatly appreciated.

HOWEVER, using fraps:
I've played 2 hrs of Crysis 2 with DX 11 patch and the ultra texture pack installed.
All graphical settings on "ULTRA" @ 1920x1080 DX 11 on
AMD 6990m overclocked to 830 core/1100 ddr5
The verdict:
Large outdoor cityscapes hovering in the mid to higher 20's fps...sometimes 30's...but mostly mid 20's. In FRAPS, the lowest i've seen it hit was 18 fps in a sewer tunnel with that crazy DX 11 water...so no crazy slowdowns. Indoors, the fps jump up into the 30's.
Its completely playable.
Crysis 2 (dx 11, high rez texture pack) + 6990m
