Wazzup..was just wondering what sort of FPS the community gets and at what settings? Also post your CCC options would be nice. I just want to see if anyone else is getting good performance cause I've noticed a tad drop as well as textures flashing White/black and sky going box shaped.

-
What drivers are you using? System Specs?
-
720QM 1.6GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode)
CrossfireX 1GB 5870m 700/1000
4GB 1333MHz
64GB SSD/160GB HDD
Lastest Vbios and the 8.7 dell drivers for the 5870m
I just think I have been getting lowish performance and it's bugging me. Especially when you enter the Alien Ship thing (Big structure?) that you get stuck whilst you are in the mine, I kept getting spikes and FPS of about 20-30. Once I got outside and into the first snow level I could see trees in the distance flashing black and white and the sky was box shaped. -
i get 25 to 35 with everything on VERY HIGH and max settings......wait untill you get to the last level with the boss ALIEN CRAB BOSS on the ship's deck....lets see if it freezes on you....its a common problem i heard about
-
-
if you want better game play keep everything on very high/max settings but just turn off the AA, you fps should get a huge boost......in the end you still still got a laptop and no matter what system you get crisis is a very demanding game
-
Hi, Crysis runs well on my M17x R2 but the clouds and trees sometimes flicker. Crysis Warhead runs much better!! I can play 1900x1200 with top settings Enthusiast. There's a bit of lag now and again but overall its pretty good.
A lot of people have said the code is not that well written for Crysis. Hopefully Crysis 2 with its new graphics engine will run better.
Left4Dead 1&2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 & Bishock 2 run on top settings absolutely brilliantly! -
WEll phoned AW up yesterday about some artifacts in games and he asked me to run a 3d 06 benchmark and told me that the avg score should be 18000. I got 13000 so I'm phoning up again :/

Just to be clear, were you running 3D Mark 2006 where the opening scene is of some soldiers getting out of a transport and fighting, or Vantage where the opening scene is Jane Nash where the girl is infiltrating the enemy cave?
-
Soldiers getting out of a transport. He said the CPU score (3000) was fine and now he gave me a free 3d mark vantage key and told me to look at a graphics score of 13000. The 3d mark 06 with the soldiers was a 11896 when he was doing the Dell Connect thing and I swear I heard him mutter ''Oh shi-'' at the results screen

Here's a run with my 720QM before I switched CPUs. Both cards are overclocked, though, so that has to be taken into account. 18000 is a run with an extreme (XM) CPU. The Alienware CSR is full of it. You've also made sure that you're on High Performance in the power settings, that in CCC all of your sliders are to the far LEFT accept for mip mapping and Catalyst AI, and that you don't have a bunch of unnecessary processes running? And you're just running the standard benchmark, not changing any settings?

Everything to performance, no other processes going. I'll try again. Standard settings
Here we go:

Suddenly the points have gone up to yours. But AW said my score should be 20000 :s Originally I called them because of artifacts in games. What bothers me tho is that people are getting 20000 even with 4870 Xfire :/
Also my wind Experience Index says 6.7 for my Gaming graphics...down from 7.3 before the techie on the phone told me to reinstall...
Ah nevermind, a re-do of the WEI got it back up again -

Post a screen shot if you can. I really don't think you're too far off man.
-
-
Ah so 13-14k is fine?
-
Cheers. -
so I have 840qm..ha you know that right(sig) any ways... I am getting ~14600 ish... is that all I should be expecting guys??

You have a better CPU Blasterbeam, and 3DMark'06 is CPU hungry. That explains your higher score. I had his exact specs, and he's very near that, so he's good.
-
-
When i got it it was full of crap, for example i got too many errors when installing games, benchmarks ans stuff like that. So i start from scratch, and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 professional and then the stock drivers from dell. -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
I agree with blasterbeam. It's unfortunate, but I don't even boot my new laptops up when they come in the mail. I put the OS install disk in the drive and perform a clean installation right off the bat.
-
well mine is a fresh install too... I really have my own way of partitioning and arranging everything and the day I received mine dell released the new vbios and new catalyst drivers... hmmm... i really dont feel any slowdowns at all... but that 1000 points difference is a slight prob... may be i will try switching the ram unit... o btw I used to get 7.2 for my cpu in WEI but since yest its 7.1 how ever I try... dont care much about WEI scores but why did it reduce??!!??
-
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
I can't tell you why the WEI score went down, but I can tell you that the WEI is no indicator of anything relevant. I've been benchmarking for 5 or 6 years now, and I'll tell you that 1,000 points is really nothing to be aggravated about. All CPU and GPU cores are not created equal. 3D Mark is a synthetic benchmark anyway. I really wouldn't sweat it man.
-
Cheers man.. -
-
Yes one day I got a point score of 10,000 and then the next day I got 14,000
Also nice OC B-beam, are you using any cooling or a cooling pad to OC to those? -
-
What are your idle temps and load temps?
-
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
That's an awesome run. Why 1080 res though?
-
-
here are the temps right after the benchmark.Take in count that i applied shin-EtsuMicroSi to the CPU and the GPUs

Oh, that makes sense. My external looks terrible compared to this LED, so it never even crossed my mind to use it instead.

I now have an 820 and still only get 15510. 18000 mus be for 920-940.
I hope to get a 920xm soon so I can get to the 18k club. -
very high, 1200p -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Sorry. I misunderstood. I'll give it a run here in a bit.
-
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
This is without the Windows GUI. I have a 50Mhz overclock on my core and memory, and I'm using ThrottleStop. I really don't feel like flashing my VBIOS for an extreme overclock run, sorry. It's 1920x1200 with no AA or Vsync on Very High.

Ok I get 5900 for my pcvantage. That doesn't sound normal now does it??? With crossfire.
-
Crysis won't even start without crashing the system or me getting artefacts...Trying to get in contact with AW tech support but they are being so difficult. I am inclined to request new Cards right? :/
-
Noticed a interesting thing in Crysis:
1. When I run the GPU Bench mark at 1920x1080 (like in many review) with nothing else selefted (Crysis version 1.21) I get a score of 44 to 46 fps.
2. When I run the GPU Bench mark at 1920x1200 with nothing else selefted (Crysis version 1.21) I get a score of 49.5 to 50.5 fps.
So it appears that the M17X r2 prefers to run at 1920 x 1200.
Sorry if this was mentioned before.
Settings, when nothing is selected are 32Bit DirectX 9 (I Think), but I noticed if I select these options I get a slightly lower score. -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
If you're in DX9, you'll have significantly better FPS, but you cannot access the 'VERY HIGH' graphics options. They're grayed out. People say that DX9 'HIGH' settings look no different than DX10 'HIGH' settings. There's also some tweaking you can do to run 'VERY HIGH' settings on DX9. That's really the best of both worlds.
-
Cool, I'll try again using DX 10,
But what I found interesting was that it ran better at 1920x1200 than at 1920 x 1080.
