Does Crysis play glithcy on anyone else system, the horizon and clouds and what not seem so flicker and it did not do it on my other machine. Is there a patch I'm missing or is that just how it runs with the x fire 5870?
-
sounds like you need to flash to the newest vbios
-
There are also patches, check the Crytek website.

I have exactly the same problem. And I have everything newest installed (drivers, BIOS, V-BIOS etc...). I did not care to fix the problem tho since I had played the game for like... 5-6 times
I just install it for benching.
-
Have all the lastest, still does it, drives me nuts!
-
Same probs with me too :/
It even started to lock my system up and I then managed to get a replacement 2nd GPU from AW. -
Hi,
I have the same problem with Crysis. Crysis Warhead works fine though. It's really annoying!! -
Search for the 1.2 Crysis patch and the a 12. to 1.21 patch, run them in sequence and wala the square flickering clouds should be gone.
Did this on mine and now Crysis works great, even get 6 fps more running the benchmark (44 to 50 DX10 32Bit).
Good Luck all. -
Does steam not auto update the game to 1.21?
-
Crysis is a great game built on a horrible game engine. Perfect example are you guys with 280 sli and 5xxx series ati cards having issues. EA just pushed cryotec to rush out the games, thats why there are so many patches and "performance' tweaks for it.
-
Actually the performance tweaks are very optional. I personally think it was very well coded and I get the performance I except from such a lush game. Crysis Warhead was simply coded better however and more aimed towards Human vs Human FPS playstyle whereas Crysis explains the story in greater detail while still boasting great gameplay.
Both are well coded, Warhead is just better with it. -
When crysis is patched to 1.21 it runs smoother, with out any of the grafix glitches mentioned, I've seen this on my systems.
-
Does steam auto-patch to 1.21?
-
Cheers Blueneon. I downloaded all 3 patches (nearly 500MB) but Crysis is now working well!
-
installed 1.2 patch (no 1.1 or 1.21) only...cleared up for me too!!!
-
Thanks
I'll check
-
Normally Steam does automatically check for updates/patches. There's a box that needs to ticked. Just right click on the game in the games library and go into properties.
I've also got Crysis on disc so not 100% sure. -
just wanted to confirm whether this is normal or not:
this is what I got when I ran the crysis benchmark
Last two runs are with xfire disabled, above it are xf enabled
should I be getting better fps?
specs in sig -
Make sure it's not running in windowed mode otherwise it will only run off one card. -
it's not on windowed, and it's the same low fps when run the game.
for some reason even when I disable xfire, it gives about the same performance which makes me think that something is wrong with the drive or the game??
i am getting 31 fps on high instead of 64
any idea how to fix this? -
You running 10.10 drivers? Did you load the latest application profiles?
-
is there one for crysis?
can you please tell me where to find it?
and yes i am on 10.10 latest vbios and drivers... -

Best thing to do is go to the Crytek website and get the patches....glitching stops....full stop. - well did for me anyhow.
Can be found here: http://crytek.com/games/crysis/overview/download -
installed latest patch and application profiles but with no improvement at all?
I really confused now -
a quick question, do I just install the application profile?
or do i need to enable a certain setting on catalyst? -
-
well I did install them but with no gain at all,
can anyone help? -
Hi ahmadmud
Do you get this performance issue with other games/benchmarks or is it only with Crysis?
Try running 3D mark vantage and posting your results (GPU).
Also try another games that supports Cross Fire and check those results.
(Unreal Tournament 3 for example)
If your performance is bad in all games/benchmarks, try to uninstall your graphix drivers (there are guids on here some where to run a cleaner program to completely uninstall them), and then reinstall.
If the problem still persists then maybe its time to call Dell. -
For the 64Bit Run "DX 10 1920x1200 0AA 64Bit High" I get ~ 30 to 34 fps.
I found that Crysis actually runs better at 1920x1200 than 1920x1080.
Again try running a different Game Benchmark to check if your second card is working proparly. -
the problem is with crysis game/benchmark only, all other games work properly
my vantage gpu score is 14600 o'ced at 750/1050
-
You have downloaded the updates for crysis and updated the game to version 1.2 or 1.21, I know this fixes alot of the performance issues.
-
ya I've already done that, but nothing changed?
-
Try reinstalling the latest ati crossfire profile. If it is already installed, reinstall it. That would explain your crossfire vs no crossfire fps issue.
-
ok, I just tried reinstalling it as you told me and here is what i got:
is this what it should be? -
It looks much better.
-
thanks blueneon for the help,
I saw someone getting +60 fps, how can i get that? -
No Idea, perhaps with a serious over clock (CPU or GPU), and an Extreme edition CPU (920xm or 940xm).
Highest I've ever gotten is 50fps, DX10 1920x1200 32Bit.
dajohu is running a 940xm, maybe this is why he gets 64fps: (Maybe also a GPU Overclock)
-
i don't think the cpu has that much of an imapct, and i am also o'cing gpu to 750/1050
thanks anyways for your great help, +1 -
Sorry for the confusion. I had a 5% cpu overclock, and gpus were at 800/1100. Also i forgot i was on my external lcd, so i was sctually at 1920x1080 so that was part of it i'm sure. It ran awesome, right to the point where my slave gpu died. Temps were great so i have no idea what caused the issue.
I was also using throttlestop, set at 92w/72c if i remember right. -
sorry for your gpu, i hope you still had the warranty then
thank for clearing things up and good luck -
Yes they are replacing both gpus tomorrow. I think only the slave is bad but i am glad they are replacing both.
-
good to hear
-
No problem, it why we're all here.
Glad your performance has improoved. -
To bad about your gpu, but good to hear that you had your warranty..
You had your gpus overclocked. Was they flashed and if so, can you flash the original bios back after the card died??
Just wonder....
Chears mate -
Yes i had them flashed, and yes i flashed them back. The card must of been kinda working in order to do that.
Now, do i OC the new cards or leave them alone??? I'm afraid to even do a repaste right now! -

Crysis, while mostly GPU-bound, also benefits from a decent CPU overclock. I tend to get the same average FPS, but when I overclock my CPU to the 3GHZ mark, the minimum rate goes up and the general frame rate appears smoother. -
oh nice info, thanks man
