Ugh, I'll tell you now I'll never buy another Dell product ever again. I've spent the last 6 months trying to get them to repair replace etc, my system. I'm on my third replacement and every time there's a problem I have to jump through hoops to get anything resolved. I've sent more than 100 emails, spent over 6 hours on the phone long distance, waited numerous times for repairmen to not show up, or be extremely late, hate repairmen come to my house, be incredibly rude, scratch my system (then deny ever doing it). It's just absolutely ridiculous. Most recently I found a few dead pixels in my system to which I emailed their support and got this reply:

    Hello Larson,

Thanks for your update that the system is working well.

For your query about the LCD, I checked with the Technician, the LCD pixel judgment is as following:

Over 1or more bright pixel or 6 or more dark pixel is subject to replace, while yours seems two dark pixels. So would suggest you to use it first and keep monitor. Revert back to me if the pixels have impacted large. Thanks for your understanding.

To which I replied (copied directly from their website):
Here is the official dell warranty information on dead pixels
What Is the Dead Pixel Policy For Alienware M17 Laptops? - KB Article - 352383 | Dell

    Dark defects

More than eight dark sub-pixels are found anywhere on the LCD.

More than three clusters of two adjacent dark sub-pixels are found anywhere on the LCD.

More than one cluster of three adjacent dark sub-pixels are found anywhere on the LCD.

Two or more complete dark pixels.

I seriously don't get it. They don't know their products/services etc, then when you actually show them the information they go dark. It's now been several days since their last reply and again nothing as of yet. If they really intend on staying in the gaming pc/laptop business they really do need to up their services. Then they wonder why sales are down across the board...

Just wondering, in the US can you go directly to a local repair shop authorized by dell? I mean. I did that in China when my M11x broke. They fixed it on the spot. Ranting in bad Mandarin with a heavy American accent helped. Got them scared and fixed my thing fast.

I think that would work, they would still have to order that parts to fix it though, and I'd rather watch the tech to make sure he doesn't jack up my machine :D

They do on site repair. I got them to give it to me finally though. It took me posting this on several sites, reviewing it on cnet, and sending another letter of complaint to the bb. They often refuse to do anything until you make it semi public really.
