Alright, So I know there are a few options for the dmc slot on our computers, but I want to know if you guys know of any other options.

    Wireless hd
    USB converter
    Dual micro sd card reader

But, is there anything else or am I doomed to have a useless slot on my computer?
I would love the option of another msata drive, I know there was talk of it, but I dont think anyone tried it out.
I have the USB converter cards already, but not sure what I would put in the USB port after I installed it.
The dual sd card one might be nice to put a win7 image on incase I need to recover fast and dont have all my drivers/disks with me.

Tomorrow I may try a few things in the dmc slot on my r4 to see what happens. I have a tv tuner, a msata drive, and the usb converter. I might give a few of those a shot to see if they do anything.

Hi there. The msata drive will not work on that slot. There are some members out there (I think Joker if I am not mistaken) who tried out the msata drive in the slot and there was no go. I personally have installed the usb adapter and added the Logitech dongle in it, so that the outside ports are not occupied anymore... Other than that, you could have a usb stick in it but it will run at usb 2.0 speed; I guess is okay to have the operating system on it with drivers etc. etc. I have a usb to microsd adapter and a 64gb microsd card installed, but didn't serve me any purpose.

I guess those are the options you could choose especially if you use a wireless external mouse and keyboard. Best of luck!

Well, another wifi card can work, but not sure how useful that will be.

The USb seems like a good option. The mSATA will def not work.

Starting to think that the USB port is my only option in there....

Not sure what to put in the usb port though.

Hmm I see the slot in the new 18, what options are available for that? are there antenna cables available in the screen for another wireless card?

You can also try a Mini PCIe SSD.

Depending on what wifi card you have already.
I think the 18 (like the 17) comes with 3 antenna from the factory no matter what.
If you have a intel 6300 or killer 1103 then all 3 of your antenna are used up by the wifi card. if you have a intel (forget the number) w/ built in bluetooth or the killer 1202 then you have a spare open antenna.
