Summary: this is the best laptop I have ever used.

I have had a heck of a time purchasing a new laptop. I have wanted one since January but the whole Sandy Bridge B2 party showed up and I wasn't invited to broken SATA ports. Finally pulled the trigger on a Sager 15" with the 6970m in March. It cheap, looked OK, but I hated the keyboard. You know what I hated the most though? That it arrived dead on arrival. Yep. Awesome, 1+ month build time and I don't even get to see the Windows logo.

Back to square one, I look at everything. I look at getting a great deal on the xps 17 for under a grand because maybe sandy bridge and the 6970m aren't ready for primetime.

Every day though, I kept going to the Alienware site...just to see if the amazing M17x R3 would drop in price. Any coupons, anything to help $2000 smack across the face.

I read these forums every day with people complaining about their broken M17's and how their keyboards showed up bent in half or the laptop showed up with scratches. It didn't make me feel too good but I still couldn't ignore it...I had to try.

An hour later with a very nice dell sales rep and I had ordered my M17x R3 with the base sandy bridge proc, 1080p, and the 6970m. Shipped with tax incl it came to a softer $1830.

I ordered May 15th and they told me it would be here by June 3rd. It arrived May 27th! Not too shabby.

From the second I opened the box I have been in love. This thing is gorgeous, feels great, amazing screen, AWESOME keyboard (lighting is too cool), runs quiet, and most importantly, crushes Starcraft 2 at native res running in Extreme graphics.

This thing is solid as a rock. Have not had one hiccup. I even am using a 64gb Crucial M4 ssd drive as my operating drive and moved the hard drive that came with the system as a storage drive. Nary a BSOD, stutter, nothing. Rock solid.

I must give a shot out to all the contributor's on the forum who helped me setup the system.

    Batboy (pure advising awesomeness): http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...er-install-order-guide-alienware-systems.html

In short, I know that people have trouble with this system. But if you can get a working one...it's amazing. I just wished I pulled the trigger sooner.

Good luck to anyone in the market and even more good luck to people having issues with their R3. I hope they get resolved soon so you can enjoy this machine.

    Great Review , thanks!!

I purchase mine, fully loaded, on may 17, the rep put the casing red instead or black, like i have specified 2-3 time...the service is bad, i always feel that the rep want to finish is sale and that's it, he never listening anything i say, i have always to repeat, day after day, and he keep making mistake in my config.

I'm about to cancell if my conputer is not in fabrication soon, it's bad because i really wan't one, and with all that ...i'm in fear that they gonna mess it up or something.

Wish ge will be like yours : perfect!

    sorry for my english

    ClementRSedona,

That's a 98 Impreza? Only one with bigger fog lights. Mine was Rally Blue :) Sold it to junk yard after hitting a large deer in grand junction :( Always on the lookout for another 98 Rally Blue one.

    It's a 2001 Red Sedona, with Ver.7 STI in it :)

on the subaru furums, sometimes GC-(1993-2001) are for sell, and sometime with a nice swap!

Great to hear someone that's happy! I, too, kept looking and kept coming back to Alienware. Ordered mine last week, and I've been worried about all the problems I see listed. I know that on forums, it's mostly people with issues that post and that those that have no problems see no need to - but it's nice now and then for someone to chime in that all is well and that they are happy with their purchase. :)

Nah, we don't see as many problems nowadays actually. I've been happy with mine. As time goes by, I've actually discovered more solutions to my problems than new problems.
