Hi guys, so my alienware m17x r3 that i bought last year just completely broke down. I've been having constant issues with the drivers and bsods with the AMD 6990m. Today, the screen suddenly went crazy and showed me stripes. Then it BSODs and i couldn't boot it into windows. However, i was able to boot it into the safe mode. I tried diabling the 6990m discrete gpu and used the HD 3000. It worked out fine.

I tried a factory reset using the alien respawn disk, but it still won't boot and shows me a black screen...

    What should i do?
Could i send this to Dell? (My warranty's expired)

Thank you! Any help would be appreciated!

Expired warranty.... ouch... Call Dell and beg for mercy. They *may* be willing to do something for you... it's not likely... but it's worth a shot.

I hate to say this... but why didn't you get the extended warranty? I wouldn't ever buy an expensive PC without one with the failure rate of hardware these days. I really feel your pain though.

How far out of warranty are you? I recently had the exact same issue and my warranty had also expired (I was 2 days out of warranty at the time) and they repaired it for free. Call dell and explain the problem to them, hopefully you can get it repaired.
