Howdy,
So my battery in my AW17 is pretty much useless. If I unplug the power cable it almost immediately gives me the low power warning etc.
I never need to use my laptop without power so it doesn't really matter. I have been having problems with portable external hard drives and my laptop lately though. So my question is: does having a battery that can barely hold a charge matter or affect anything else? I've read that a lot of hard drive issues are related to power problems. Is my laptop not functioning properly with the right amount of power? Or does plugging in the power cable completely bypass the battery?

When plugged in the battery doesnt matter. Your psu should be at least a 230 or 240w but otherwise no it doesnt affect anything. That being said you can pick up a new one for 60 bucjs on ebay. I did and it works great.

Happen to be able to provide a link? I've gotten 2 fake batteries so far that couldn't power the laptop

Dead battery, does it matter?
