My nightmare experience with Dell just keeps rolling along here. Ordered a red nebula m17x on 4/8...EDD of 5/10. Called today to get an update and also give them my new phone number...and after giving the customer service guy the order number, was told that "he could not find it"...was put on hold...for what felt like 5 hours...finally he came back on and asked for my email address....

This comes one week after the mental midgets at Dell incorrectly tried to ship me a desktop video card after I ordered a laptop video card for my m15x. Today, they had no record of that order...

I hear that Alienware customer support was a lot better before Dell got a hold of them...I don't know if that's true or not, but it certainly couldn't have been worse than what I've dealt with...

Dude I hear you the same thing happened to me too. It took 3 attempts and 2 different sales reps to order my m17xr3. Finally i was fed up and thank god I am in the military and I just ordered from AAFES and saved 659 bucks, and it took 8 days to build and ship. You would think that they would not mess this part up because it is money out of their pocket.

Glad you got a happy ending out of your ordeal. I think my "happy ending" scenario would involve never having to deal with Dell again...

Being told by a Dell rep now that the m17x should still be delivered in the next week. Frankly, after all my "conversations" with Dell, I think it's more likely that I find Sasquatch camping out in a tree house in my backyard than an Alienware laptop arriving on my doorstep in the next week.

My order just changed from "lost" to "shipped"...perhaps (I hope) I'll get a chance to eat my words in the next few days.

Well, just wash your hands of this order and get the m18x.

Make them give you a good deal due to the mix-up, wait, pain-and-suffering, lost sanity, etc........ :p

Wish I could afford the m18x...I'm still in disbelief that it's even possible that the m17x will be in my hands tomorrow (according to tracking)...I have been in such a runaround, it's hard to actually imagine that I may have an actual laptop in my possession tomorrow...

I was having problems with the warranty, wasn't aware you couldnt upgrade after purchase so I called to complain and try and get the upgrade cost and they wouldn't do it so I filed a BBB complaint. And the next day they called and I ended up getting a free Logitech G700 Gaming RF wireless mouse with my order for the miss communication..

Your order being lost does not necessarily mean it hasn't been processed and shipped. It normally means that the rep youre talking to is unable to track it. It reminds me of the time I called dell support to tell them the GPU fan stopped working on my m17x, and had the rep trying to convince me for over 15 minutes that the m17x model doesn't have GPU fans.

It is also possible your order was complete and sitting in their warehouse instead of being shipped, and now they put it on high priority, which is a 1-2 days shippings.

Had a Dell manager admit that I had been misled by previous reps about status of the system build. Has been a continual runaround for the past month. Will be glad to get this system in hand so I can forget this whole mess.

I knew that the order had not been "lost"...my inference was that the left hand of Dell doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Combined with the incorrect video card order/shipment....that's what had me so frustrated. Didn't have any confidence that I was getting the straight story from Dell no matter who I was talking to.

Yup, I was transfered several times and hung up the other day when complaining about not being told about only being able to purchase the warranty at the price up front and not after. I actually have thought about cancelling and going Sager several times. But their laptops just look so damned plane!

Such a cruel world we live in.

Dell's phone reps are particularly bad at finding out what the status of an order is.

My wife's Dell laptop got replaced about a year ago, and based on the info on the replacement quotation form I managed to figure out the order number. I had to call because the laptop was showing on the online tracking system as being at the local dispatch depot for several days. What did the reps tell me? "It's still in production, it'll be about 2 weeks."

After the laptop arrived, I used the email system to check the status. I was told again "it's in production, it'll arrive in 2 weeks". I replied saying I was using the replacement laptop to send the email. And they replied... "It's in production, it'll arrive in 2 weeks."

    Useless.

Like others have said before: Been there, done that.

I'm really disappointed in these damn American companies outsourcing elsewhere...sheesh. (This is not a racist statement btw. Also, I'm asian and my parents emigrated from Vietnam, so none of that white supremacist crap k?)
