    Hi guys. :hi2:
    I got a few questions.
Someone just offering me this kinda spec Alienware m17xr4 with pretty reasonable price. ;)

    A new alienware m17xr4 intel core i7 3rd gen
    16GB ram
    2GB Radeon 7970M
    500GB HDD
    17" Led HD 1920x1080 resolution
    Free bag and mouse.

But the bad news is he's selling it cheap because the laptop is a customer cancellation order stock. and also the warranty is 1 year from his shop not from dell.
    Should i buy this laptop?
Can i extend the laptop warranty by dell?
What are the disadvantages of buying customer cancellation order stock?

Hi man, without a dell warranty it needs to be very reasonable.

This sounds a bit strange anyway. As far as I know all customer cancellations end up in their outlet where they are offered with a full new warranty. Maybe the seller originally sold it and accepted it back?

Anyway, if you can get the service tag you can check on the warranty status and when it ended. In some countries they allow you to buy back in within a time limit. In others you are SOL after it expires.

Compare what the warranties offer, and the on-site is a big deal when there are problems ;)

Warranties have an innate value so it's up to you how much that saving is worth to you.

I would recommend getting the service tag as well and do a full check on it.

Ya get the service tag, look it up on dell.com and see if you can even get a warranty. It sounds like a stolen unit...

What shop is it? When I used to have a business consulting, sometimes clients would ask me to buy a computer. So maybe that is what happened here, and the buyer changed their mind. Is it a good shop, do you trust them? You could ask to sed the original reciept, although it would no be unusual for them to refuse as the receipt may show other info, or how much their discount is.

He still needs the service tag to call dell to see if they will warrant the laptop. Some times people don't send back there replacement lap tops so dell / alienware pulls the warranty.....

    Hi guys.
He just replied to me that Dell made an offer to some companies to bid laptops at a higher prices.
So he got it through this way.
And for that reason, the laptop will have no service tag.
If something goes wrong, the person can't file a warranty claim directly through Dell.
But will have to go through the seller and he will contact Dell for further action.

Stolen unit. This does not make sense. All cancellation orders come with a service tag. All Alienware systems have a tag.

yes, supposedly all Alienware systems have a tag.
how could he possibly steal from Dell when he told me his brother a supplier.
    That makes me confused.

Unless a dell rep states otherwise I'd say it is a stolen unit. They always have a service tag unless dell revokes it, which will happen if a user tells dell it's been stolen.

Might be some other reason (like it's a stolen/recovery) but I'd steer clear.

Micky even if it was revoked it would have a trail. And a record of having a service tag. Even when I canceled, and got a replacement system. The order had a service tag rendered just it was revoked with out warranty.
